How important is water really!

Recommended Posts

Are other losers loosing weight and not drinking as much Water as they have been told to drink? I can only manage about 40 Fluid ounces, I try every day to drink more but it makes me sick and I was becoming obsessed by it as it is drummed into us how important it is.

I’ve lost 63 pounds since August, so I’m about half way. I’m not too unhappy, I know I would probably have lost more if I drank more or would I? You tell me.

Also cant exercise because my hips packed in and I need a new one!

It helps weight loss. It's also a dehydration issue.

It's not just about the weightloss. You don't want to develop kidney problems after all you have done to get healthier.

I struggle to. But if I mix my drink with Crystal light it's easier. Water is hard for me to manage. But keep focusing. And split your water goal up. X amount before you allow your self Breakfast. Same for lunch and dinner. Then you have a small amount to have for bed.

In all honesty I don't like drinking when I'm out. So sometimes the majority of my water is had in the evening.

Thanks folks. I have had a word with myself and got an app to remind me to drink and to measure it out through the day. I won’t let it beat me.

It’s definitely harder for me to drink Water in the cold weather- so I drink a lot of tea. I always have earl grey and milk at my desk at work. And at night I love my mint tea with stevia. I also stack my car up and have a bottle here and there in my work bag and purse. If the water is not quickly accessible to me I don’t drink. Maybe that will help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
