Can't Wait Til 2:00 Today!!

Recommended Posts

Hi lapband friends, I can't wait until I get my second fill(only been a week since last fill). I was very dissapointed with my first fill, I hope this one gives me a little more restriction than the first one. I think about how much pain and money that i have spent on this band and to see know results yet is fustrating. I know the Dr. has to tke it slow and i undrestand that, but i don't want to have to keep leaving work early every week just because the dr. is scared of a over fill. Some people might can afford to do that , but i have to work to pay for this band!! So hopefully he get enough saline in the band today!! wish me luck!!:)

I wish you luck, but I'm sure you have read over and over and over and over again the countless posts about it taking three or four or more fills to get to that sweet spot. Please don't be too frustrated if this one isn't "the one." Remember that it can take a couple of WEEKS for a fill to "kick in" as well.

I'm sure you have also read the countless posts where someone was too aggressively filled and couldn't even keep Water down and had to go back AGAIN and get some removed, or all of it removed because their stoma was too irritated from the overfill.

I think we all have to rearrange our schedules to go to our appts and get our fills, we're all in the same boat with that one. Wouldn't it be AWESOME if a doctor's office had hours that were designed around the PATIENT?

Wait, your doc fills every week? I can see that for perhaps the second fill, but soooo many people report that it can take two weeks or more to feel restriction for their second or third or fourth, etc fill, I'd be very hesitant to go more often than about three weeks after that second fill. You don't want to end up on a Saturday night throwing up everything you take in.

I think the Dr. realized he didn't put enough, but i called and asked a few days after"when will i feel some restriction at all, that's when she told me to come in today. I have heared of the horrible stories of being filled to tight, I don't want that to happen to me. But i really need to feel some kind of restriction so I don't get tempted to go back to my bad habits. But i have a question for anyone out there! Is anyone ever gained weight after being banded, got first fill and still gaining ?? It's scary!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
