Hi I am from Lynchburg Tn and I am currently waiting on Cigna to approve my lapband surgery. My doctor is Dr. Spaw at Baptist Hospital. How long does it usually take Cigna insurance (I'm a teacher) to approve this? All my paperwork was sent in Oct 15 from my dr. Oh and I also have PCOS. I can't wait to get this weight off me! We too tried to have a child but dr says that the PCOS and endometriosis is so bad that it might not ever work, so we chose to get healthy and let the Lord take over.

Hi Felicia,

I'm not sure about Cigna insurance. I have BCBS and it took about 2 weeks to get an approval. You have a great attitude. I too have PCOS and it took 6 years to get pregnant. I did lose 50 lbs on my own before i got pregnant but gained it all back during pregnancy and haven't been able to lose anymore. So i think me losing weight had a lot to do with me being able to get pregnant. Good luck and hope you get approval soon.

Don't know about your insurance, but Dr. Spaw is my Dr., banded 8/29/07. After going to several seminars with other Dr. I chose him and glad I did.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
