Anyone else take Zoloft?

Recommended Posts

I take wellbutrin once a day. I stopped taking it for about a week,(pre and post op) and then realized it was soooo neccesary for my depression. I don't think my surgeon recommends it. My husband and kids do recommend it!!

It is small and easy to swallow with no problem.

Good Luck and God Bless

I was just wondering if you had to quit taking it so long before the surgery and how it would be taken post surgery. Any information will be appreciated.

I have been on Zoloft for years. I did not have to stop taking it pre or post op. Just missed one day - day of surgery. Take it if you need it.

Good luck to you!!!

Hello! I take aropax and did not have to stop taking my meds. I think it is important for your well-being to stick to your routine. You do not need to deal with side effects when having such a life changing experience. good luck!

I take Zoloft. My doctor just weaned me off Paxil and put me on Zoloft just before my surgery. I never stopped taking them and had no problems.

Did you take it the day of the surgery?

I am on prozac and I took mine the day of surgery. But, mine comes in capsules and I just opened them and dumped the contents in juice. It tasted awful and bitter but I was able to take it that way for a few weeks. Now, I just swallow the capsules again and they go down fine.

I was on Zoloft at one time. I liked the way it made me feel, but it did cause me to stop having orgasms altogether. For me, it just wasn't worth it. That part of my life was good, and not ejoying sex made me MORE depressed so I changed to Wellbutrin. My doctor agreed. He said it happens to a lot of people. Then I discovered that I was depressed because of an undiagnosed thyroid problem. Two weeks later I was off anti-depressants and taking synthroid. It was heaven. My surgeon has told me that I will more than likely get to toss my blood pressure meds and detrol after my Lap-band surgery but will have to continue with the thyroid meds. Just do what the doctor tells you.

I take Zoloft. I was told I could take it the day of my surgery with no breaks in days. They didn't feel that it would cause a problem.

Also on Wellbutrin XL. I was told to not take it on surgery day but that I should be able to take it afterwards with no problem.

I take it and did not have to stop before surgery. You continue as normal. The day after surgery, you have to crush it up or break it in half. Then continue as normal, either crushing or in half. Hope this helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
