My granddaughter is in kindergarten, and they have the opportunity to be junior cheerleaders for the Boys & Girls Club basketball program. My daughter -- her Mom-- did it when she was younger (12 ish). At that time, they had cheerleader type skirts, but just B&G Club tshirts.

Well she got the info, and went to the meeting. The skirts are micro mini skirts---and they actually said the shirts need to be snug---and they have a deep V neck. My daughter said it would be very questionable for a high school cheerleading uniform, with the length etc. Let alone for a 5 year old! She and a couple of others questioned it, but were met with resistance from many more Moms who cited, that there were bloomers under the skirt, and they were saying that they make sports bras, or cover ups for little girls too. They should not NEED that!

My granddaughter wanted to do it....and is not being allowed because of the dress. They are not allowed to wear shirts to school without sleeves---no tank tops or sleeveless shirts of any sort---yet they sent the info home on this, where the tops have no sleeves at all, and begin in a size 6---which would swallow this child, and fall off the shoulders, and the deep V, would likely show her naval! Ridiculous!

At Easter, we had a hard time finding little white patent leather shoes, they all had wedges, and heels in a childs size 8! Seriously????

I see kids every day in the sweats with something wrote across the butt----why would we encourage anyone to look at a child like that? Regardless what it says?

But then again, I have a SIL who is well over 60---who told this granddaughter her outfit was "sexy". She had on skinny black jeans, and a gray and hot pink tshirt with the attached vest, that was black. She looked cute, it covered her completely---and it was fitted, but when did properly fitting clothes become "sexy"???? DUH!

I think that in general people are in a hurry for children to grow up, hence the age inappropriate clothes. Little girls dressed like hookerettes and little boys like dudes. We bombard our children with images and toys and experiences that are way beyond what is appropriate for their (and sometimes even our) age.

Kudos to your daughter, Kat. A voice in the wilderness. If she doesn't advocate for her daughter, who will?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
