Tanning Makes You Look Fatter Or Skinnier?

Recommended Posts

I've always thought/heard that tanned skin has a slimming effect. To me it looks healthier, but my genes make me "un-tannable". If I ever did any tanning it was spray on. The techniques and formulas used these days are so much more advanced than they used to be. You can have someone personally airbrush tan you (which looks way better to me) or you can go in a spray booth. Either way, nothing is permanent and you have to keep re-doing it every few weeks which gets annoying. If you tan easily, just be careful...use some SPF lotion if you can and keep your skin checked by a dermatologist. Always keep an eye out for wonky looking moles too

so, i'm in TX, on a ranch & it's HOT most days - including todays 108 in the shade - LOL

sunscreen is my only moisturizer & a ball cap and big sun glasses are the norm. i have naturally dark skin (italian/jewish) - but, my mom threw SPF in my face at an early age.

in hot climate - protect yourself; i will naturally get tan just walking out the door - but i do like jergen's self tanner to blend things in.

at the end of the day - i think a healthy glow makes you look fit; thinner is in the eye of the beholder & the size of your thighs...:cursing:

My skin doesn't tan fast, so I use spray tan, and it looks really good. As long as my legs are tanned, I feel like they are firmer.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
