Get Ready! Get Set! WAITTTTTTT

Recommended Posts

If I worked with the speed, accuracy, completeness and customer service as the insurance companies and doctor's offices, I would have been fired long ago.

I finished my 6 month diet 10 days ago. They assured me it would be sent right over to the surgeon. WRONG! It has not been sent, dictated or ordered. No wonder the surgeon does not have it.

I saw a psychologist for 5 months and was promised she would send the approval to the surgeon's office. WRONG! It has not been sent.

I am really tired of sending emails and leaving voice messages.

There! I feel better now. I just needed to get that off my chest. Now I can relax and fight the fight again on Monday. Wish me luck.

I WILL have the band before the end of the year!:heh:

I hate to say, but been there, done that. I finally called my insurance company and asked what they wanted, got copies and faxed it myself.

You go girl!! Keep on them. That is the only way it will get done.

My suggestion: Tell them you need it now - tell them to fax it to you (do you have a home fax? If not, sign up for a free fax number and have it emailed to you - there are a bunch of places online that offer that - even if it is just a trial version... do it. )

Then tell them to fax it while you are on the phone with them because you want to make sure it goes through (lie a little and say you have had problems receiving faxes in the past and you just want to make sure you receive it without any problems)

If they say they don't have it ready yet or they can't fax it right now. Tell them that you will be happy to call them back in an hour or two to provide them the information for faxing it and will call back then to make sure your fax doesn't having any problems receiving it.

That way it sounds like it is all on you and your fax - and it puts a fire under their butts to do it.

One step further - go to the office and ask for a copy of it right then and there - tell them if they don't have that you are happy to wait for it because you are scared it will get delayed in the mail or lost and you really need it right then. Then they usually get off their tush and do it.

BE SO SWEET IT IS SICKENING. Make it all about your crazy schedule and your fault that it isn't done yet and place NO BLAME or attitude on them. (Even though we all know it is ALL THEIR FAULT)... then they will generally get it done ASAP because they are trying to accommodate your crazy life. LOL

Hope that helps and it works for me with just about everything I need. :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
