Hi everyone,

There was a topic on the board about colds & flu how we can get more restricted when we have one. I cannot find it but if anyone can tell me what we can have medication wise (over the counter) I would be so ever grateful.

I have been sitting here all more blowing my nose as I well as trying to eat my salad for lunch and just cannot do it. I know I have more restriction today and usually by this time I should be able to eat.

Is any kinda Cold stuff ok to take? powder, liquid

Hi Mary... hope you get well soon! Until then... you should be able to take any kind of liquid cold medicine... just make sure it doesn't contain ibuprofen. I am able to take capsules/tablets with out a problem... hope that helps.

Mary, there's a whole slew of things available. Deciding which one is the hard part. Can you swallow pills o.k.? Figure out if you need something for congestion (chest or head), runny nose, aches & fever, etc. There are pills, capsules, powders. Thera-flu makes several different powders that dissolve in hot Water. Be sure you read the directions and don't overtake anything. If you don't get to feeling better in a few days, please see your dr. Sometimes getting the right RX is all it takes. (And those over the counter meds. can add up in cost.) Please be sure you're getting in enough fluids to avoid dehydration. Hot teas (decaffenated) are great to help ease restriction and feel soothing. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

I just got over a cold last week.

The thing that worked best for me were "Cold Eeze" lozenges, they diminish the symptoms of a cold and cut the cold time down. They taste great too! They are found in the cold medicine section with the throat lozenges.

Thank you all so much I am leaving early today so I am going to stop at the Drug Store. I am hoping it is just a head cold but my tummy does not feel like that is all it is. The bites of salad I had for lunch did not sit to well but at least it's not coming up,

just alot of burping and funny noises. Well Hoping you all have a great afternoon and evening. I'm off

Oh I forgot to mention along with my head cold..I suffered a horrible stomach ache..where I could not go to the bathroom and had horrible cramping and could not pass any gas either which is so rare for me...my family also suffered the same thing so there must be a little bug going around

Check the ingredients out. If you're taking something like Thera-flu, it has acetaminophen in it. That's another word for tylenol. Taking too much is bad.

Thank you all I feel so much better today no sneezing no runny nose and eyes. I did take Theraflu only could drink a little and the little bites of salad I had yesterday came up when I got home. Also when I was sleeping Fluid came up out of no where and I was gagging needless to say I am going to be calling the Dr today and see what they say about that. Took a Nexium this morning and I can feel the restriction with the Water I drank so I guess I will be on fluids for a couple of days till I can get back to normal.

Michelle did you have restriction when you were sick?
