Everyone is doing so well!!! Are you guys using a website called "eatthismuch"? I'm finding it useful to get ideas of new things to try. You can adjust calories and input nutritional goals like how much Protein to get in or carbs/fats etc. It make me feel like I may stop relying on Protein Shakes :)

I feel like I am way behind where I should be 😢😢😢 5 wks out and only 16 lbs down. Lost lots (like 30lbs) on pre-op tho. But ugh!!! May have to unfollow social media as I am getting depressed. I can't figure out if I am not eating enough, not the right things, or what. I had surgery so that I would hopefully not have to obsess over every bite like Weight watchers etc and I am dismayed to find that I still need to document every little thing. I guess I figured that with only being able to eat teeny amounts it would just happen! So discouraged 😢😢😢 Sorry guys but just needed to vent!

Vent away @fulamuso

You will get there. If you think that something needs to change or doesn't feel right talk with your doctor or nutritionist. They've had years of questions and struggles from patients.

I know it's hard but try not getting discouraged. This feeling will pass and the lbs will start shedding away.

You've got this!

I was feeling the exact same way! My Nutritionist said to stop weighing everyday and not to believe everything you read on the blogs. People exaggerate. I was also not consuming enough calories. I am 6 weeks out and should be getting 600-800 a day. Towards high end if working out. I also lost a lot in first week. She said people who lose a lot up front slow down...but will catch up. Not weighing everyday and understanding this is my journey and it’s ok if different from others has helped a lot. You will also lose slower than people who have more to lose...so don’t compare yourself to others. I use Baritastic to log my food, Water and exercise. I thought something was wrong with me because I could eat my suggested portion sizes when people on line talk about only getting in a bite or two. My Nut told me being able to consume that is great. It means you are healing quickly and will get the nutrition your body needs to exercise. Be patient...work the program and let us know if you need some encouragement! This works....we are baby’s! It will happen![emoji106][emoji7]

My Wednesday weigh in, a day late.

Pre-op: 291
Surgery: jan 25- 281
Current: 254

Weight loss has slowed down a bit, in the last week or two. But probably my body making up for the quick loss so soon after surgery.

Saw nutritionist yesterday, said I can basically start experimenting with anything, other than rice, Pasta, bread, salad, pork and red meat. Got past the puréed stage and feeling good. Have sometimes eaten a little too much. Never necessary to throw up or anything, but a very tired, uncomfortably full feeling comes on. Despite a complication a week post op, feeling great, no regrets.

@fulamuso and @cabookie11 everyone loses at different rates. I lost 2lbs this week and I'm happy with that cos it's in the right direction. If weightloss is slower, the less chance we have of loose skin and looking like a burst balloon. Don't be down or disheartened. Look at how far you've come. Fulamuso, if you're starting weight was 257 and you've lost 16lbs, that's like 6.3% of your TOTAL body weight OR 16.7% of your EXCESS weight!!! You're doing well. xxx

Hey everyone. So, I had surgery Jan 30th. Starting weight in Sept was 440. I went into surgery weighing 404. Came home from the hospital at 409 and now I'm 395. It's been 3 weeks and I feel like the weight loss is so slow. I'm following my plan and trying not to get frustrated. Any words of advice?

You know that's averaging like 4.6 lbs a week, right? X

Yes, I do. I know I have to stop comparing, but I see people saying they've lost like 30-40 lbs in 2 weeks and I'm like, well what the hell am I doing wrong?

For me it's been 4 weeks and I have lost 40lbs, but I didn't lose anything prior to the surgery. SO right now most the weight I've lost if the Water that I had retained, and most of that all came off week 1. The last three weeks I've only dropped 17-18lbs but I'm still staying positive and continuing on with my new marathon in life.

You are doing GREAT @jns0711 Keep up the strong work and it will continue to disappear from your life!

@JNS0711 some people include their heaviest weight, preop stats or surgery day weight so you cant just look at the numbers.

Like Marc said, some people lost nil before surgery then boom - the Water weight falls off then it slows down. Some people have a steady slow burn.

This is going in all the right directions for you. It's early days. Make sure you hit your Protein and water goals and try to stay positive xx

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
