Why aren’t we supposed to take gummy vitamins after surgery? I took (but disliked) my Flintstones chewables before surgery but now they make me wretch as soon as I start chewing them. Can I try the gummies I had from before or will they hurt my new stomach?

Have a great day!

i was told from my bariatric team that the gummy vitamins do not have the minerals we need. They have not figured out a way to put them in the gummies. So that is why they want us to do flintstone Vitamins or some other choice besides the gummies.

I have found that the quick melt Vitamins made by Celebrate work really well. I can’t stand the chewable ones, but the quick melts are just fine.

My team ok'd gummy vitamins if I also took an Iron supplement. I was having trouble with the Vitamin pills. It's made a world of difference for me.

Ya I hate these chewable Celebrate Vitamins they always make me feel sick. I was wondering about the vitamin patches but read some where on here that our bodies cannot absorb Vitamins externally so therefore the bariatric Vitamin Patches won't work. Anyone know if this is true or have any experience using these?

Maybe I'm the only one but I really enjoy then Bariatric Advantage chewables, they actually taste good and basically disintegrate completely in seconds. I'm still on liquids so I actually look forward to them, it's like candy. I'll probably switch to swallowables once I finish this bottle but they were great and I'd highly recommend (not to mention they're also made specifically for bariatric patients so their is that)

No experience but Patches sound like bullshit. I don't think there's a lot of data supporting them either. I'm sure you'll find some people who swear how great they are on here, but I think it would be foolish to risk your health on something unproven (that's also probably really expensive)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
