I am 6 wks post op. I was able to come off of my blood pressure medication and now my blood pressure is up again 167/84. Has anyone had this issue. I really don’t want to restart taking my meds.

Is it a one time reading, or multiple high readings? How active are you? I'm now able to keep mine in check with walking, Water and keeping my sodium lower. Every now and then it's a little high, like if I ate Jerky the day before.

Who took you off your blood pressure medication? If it was your surgical team, that's one thing. But if you took yourself off, that's a different matter. Either way, please consult your surgical team & together agree on a plan. Good luck!

I bought a home blood pressure machine to monitor my BP daily. My BP pre op was 120/80 with meds. It is now 114/72 after I took myself off my meds. Sometimes it does go up to 121/79 but for most times it stays at 114/72. When I had my three month post op visit I told my surgeon that I took myself off the the BP meds. (I also spoke to my primary care Dr as well) Both know the reason for my WLS was to get off as many meds as I could. I excercise 4x a week at the gym and I stick to the plan as far as eating goes. Pre surgery I didn't put any additional salt in my food and I still don't. As for the BP monitor I took it with me to the Dr to see if it is as accurate as his. It passed the test, so I know my readings are correct.

I took myself off of the meds because my readings were very low. I am back on the meds now that my readings are high with multiple readings. I have just started walking and hope that this will help.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
