TLBC Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Safari: WL depends entirely on you. If you follow the guidlines strictly and exercise you will loose 1 - 2 lbs per week. There will be times you remain the same. The only difference to remember you are not on a diet as much as you are altering your lifestyle to learn to eat modestly and healthy. Well aboard bandsters land. The band is there to remind you when you have had enough.Doddie

Well, I had my surgery on Oct 26 @ 9:00. Dr. Yau and his staff did everything to make me feel comfortable. It was a good experience. I'm a little sore today but managing well with my liquid diet.< /p>

I am home and very happy with my surgery. I am not having a lot of pain or gas dicomfort. I have been walking everyday thanks to the advise on here. A few people on this site suggested walking to get rid of the gas pain as Gas X wouldn't really work for that kind of body gas, And they must have been right as I feel really good.

Thank-you to you all

God Bless

18 Again

Banded TLBC by Dr Yau in Toronto

Pre op diet weight 209.8

Surgery Date 203.5

October 28/07 200.8

Welcome to Bandster Land... I was banded July 11th at TLBC and like you didn't have much discomfort at all after the proceedure...

Good luck in your recovery and stick to the liquid and mushy stage as long as is recommended.. you'll do fine and we are all here to provide support, recipes or whatever...

Take care

Is anyone going to the TLBC open house on Dixon Rd Nov 30th? It sounds like fun.

I have already booked a room for overnight

I was banded on August 16, 2007. I have lost 29 lbs and I feel great. I think the clinic is great and I had a really good experience. I find Jill (the nutrionist) really helpful, but I have to say all of the staff is terrific. I hadn't thought about going to the Open House on November 30th, but now that I am reading about it, I think I might.

What was your starting weight? You have done very well so far... keep it up...

I just had my 3rd fill yesterday and it's made a difference. I was really needing some more restriction for sure!

My starting weight was 260. I feel great, but I am very careful about what I eat. I have trouble keeping food down, even though my restriction is very low 4.5 cc. I spoke to Nancy yesterday, she keeps telling me to chew, chew.

I am happy that I did it, it is going well, I hope that I can keep it up.

I just discovered this forum, I am glad that I did, now I know how other people feel and are doing.

I'm going for a consultation next week. I've read wonderful things about TLBS, their post-op support seems great! I hope to get banded mid December. :clap2:

You will be surprised at all the support you get at TLBC. I have taken advantage of the SUpport group as well as the nutritional classes.. Jill is awesome and so is Nancy the fill nurse.

Everytime I have a question or email they respond very quickly.

Also, I was there on Wed and was told they are getting a 'new' member on their team. A psychiatrist, who will be helping us all with our 'emotional' elements to losing weight and keeping it off permanently.. this will be a great advantage to us all as I am an emotional eater and I think there are a lot of 'us' out there.

Best of luck , post often and ask lots of questions!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
