You’re amazing for waiting a year for sweets. I’m a little under 2mo post and I had a piece of pie today. But back on the grind tomorrow!

We forget the secret is the calories not the quality of food you eat. I was told that I have to stay in the 900 - 1000 calorie range. Now I could eat that with one piece of junk food or eat 3 meals throughout the day. On Thanksgiving I choose the pie along with some other crap but I stayed just over 1000 calories. Now today will be a 500 calories day of salad and such. I use software to track my caloric intake so if I have an off day I just adjust. Also, I rarely eat more than 300 calories at one time. My VGS keeps that part of my new lifestyle in check.

I'm so mad at myself; and disappointed. 3 days post-surgery and I actually took tiny bites of food. I'm lucky I didn't hurt myself. I don't feel great today, but don't think I did any damaged and will not be testing myself again.

The reason I post this confession here is that thickgirl5683 is waiting a year to try a sweet and I couldn't make it 3 days without trying a taste of food. You are inspiring and reminding me what I should be doing.

I track my food too but honestly yesterday I didn't even attempt to log anything, to me it's hard to track things with alot of different ingredients... I tried some sweets for the first time and I'm kinda disappointed they didn't make me feel sick, so now I know I can still handle most things which means I have to watch it.... Today I ate some leftovers but no sweets and I stopped when I was full or no longer hungry. I am headed to to the gym as we speak.... One day at a time

@Aries331 dont be so hard yourself this new life isn't easy and you have to take it 1 day at a time... Thank you for the kind words BUT I DID NOT WAIT.... Last night I had a piece of brownie and ice cream AND I had some of my banana pudding trio I made.... So I didn't make it to my 1 year BUT I will NOT be eating anymore of it... I'm back to business.... It scared me that the sweets went down so easily with no problems so now I feel like I have to REALLLY stay away from those things... Yesterday is over, so focus on the now.. Stick to your plan one meal at a time!!! WE CAN DO THIS

Thank you. That's how I feel too, just beating myself up a little. I need to take the lesson and move on. [emoji28]

I was so thrilled 4 mo post op to be able to make a ton of delicious thanksgiving foods, including three delicious pies, and know that Thanksgiving Day was going to be, for my food log, the same as any other day. That is the blessing of this surgery.

i don’t eat Desserts. If after a dinner I feel munch while the others eat dessert, I will have a bit or two of 85% dark chocolate. It’s perfectly satisfying. Sugar never made me feel anything but BAD after, vision messed up, mood cranky, increased carb cravings. So I am done with eating sweet things. I don’t even eat fruit, though at goal I may add in 1 serving a day possibly.

I chose the food I wanted, put it on a plate like the others, got out my scale, weighed the plate to zero it, and took away everything but 4 Oz. It was really only a few chunks of turkey and a tablespoon of every other thing. I did put a tbsp of homemade cranberry sauce on the plate, which was a rare sweet thing. And I enjoyed that food for real as much as the two plates plus 4 pieces of pie I probably had last year. Would never have believed it.

I'm thankful for my gastric sleeve.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
