Well, I have cut bait with PHCS..UCK!!!! And now I am with United Health Care. IF ANYONE IS WITH PHCS OR PACIFICARE.........DUMP THEM! All they do is treat you like a circus animal........JUMP, SIT, STAY, ROLL OVER, YOUR DENIED PORKY!!! BACK TO THE END OF THE LINE!

I am startin all over, SQUARE ONE! and hope that I will get approved this time. I was thinking about not getting it done all together. If it had not been for the love of my GiRl I would not be able to get back up and try again. She was approved for this month. So, I can't let the monster get me because I am angry, or stressed out........

Wish me luck!

WillPower,

I love your quote. Always gives me a laugh.

Don't get discouraged. It took me two years and 2 appeals to get it taken care of. Like you, my insurance changed and I got lucky. The old insurance was through my hubby's union and they did nothing but give me grief but thankfully, they changed over to BCBS and in a matter of months, I was approved. It can be an overwhelmingly frustrating process but in the end, it is all worth it.

Here's keeping the fingers crossed!!

Hang in there. Please check with your health benefits coordinator to see what exactly your UHC policy covers (and if they have specific weight loss exclusions). Different companies have different contracts. Best of luck to you!

I have checked with them and there are not any exclusions, or hoops to jump through on WLS. Only that the thin may not apply! Finally something that they can't have done to look better!!! :laugh

That's great! Now be patient and follow all of their rig-a-ma-roll. My UHC originally denied me, I appealed, 8 months later got my band. It was definitely worth the wait! But hopefully you won't have to wait so long!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
