I got my sleeve yesterday and had the worst time trying to keep down the ice chips. I was kept on anti nausea meds the whole time. When I was released today I had to drink & keep down 1 oz of Protein and 3 oz of clears per hour for 3 consecutive hours. I nailed it right away and was sent home. Now that the anti nausea has worn off I can’t keep anything down. Is this normal? What do I do? Now I wish I would’ve stayed a day more like my surgery buddy did

Have a great day!

unfortunately nausea is common with some WLS patients. When I was sent home the Dr. gave me anti nausea medication in case I needed it. Fortunately, I didn't. Contact Dr. and ask to be prescribed anti nausea meds.

Called my doc and he managed to get me some anti nausea meds. The nausea is still there but I’m not puking every time I drink anything. Still taking tiny sips (5-7 sips per ounce) to make sure my sleeve doesn’t get angry again. Thanks for the advice [emoji1360]

So normal. I was dry heaving for 3 days and some puking. Congrats on your sleeve. Your sleeve loves you lol

Nausea can be completely normal for some. It could also be a side effect from the Anesthesia medicine. I had nausea for about 2 days that wore off gradually and it was from the anesthetic as I've had it in the past with other surgeries. Congrats on your sleeve, this is a new beginning for you.

Thank you, my sleeve (Audrey) and I are getting along great now lol. I named her Audrey after the plant from Little Shop of Horrors because she doesn’t gently grumble when she wants something, she punches my in the chest and demands it. [emoji23]

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
