Beth Israel Milton- Dr. Bresnik.....I'd give them a B-. Dr, Bresnik seems to be a fine surgeon, and I feel safe in her hands, but her bedside manner is not the best. The rest of the team seems to be just "by the books" with no real geniuine care for me as an individual. I hate to say this, but I think its important to get information like this out to anybody thinking of having the surgery and have them do their research.

Dr. McCluney, St. Elizabeths in Boston, is where he performs his surgeries, but he has offices in Fall River and Brockton where he sees patients.

Dr. Robinson Brigham and Women's. He is good, but his manner with patients sucks. I had a band to sleeve revision by him in 2015 and now i'm having more issues. :( Looking to change but not sure how that goes. Won't other docs not want to touch me??

I'm working with the MGH weight center. The surgeon is Dr. Matt Hutter. He seems fine; I just care that he's good technically. I'm just concerned that they don't seem to think I need to have endoscopy to determine the extent of the issues I have with GERD/gastritis since they have recommended sleeve due to my needing to take medications that won't be absorbed well if I had RNY. They also are not giving me a good sense of when everything will be scheduled, which is incredibly frustrating since my work schedule has to be booked three months in advance.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
