I havent had my surgery yet but I used to do Hot Yoga. Ive been thinking about starting again about a month before i have my surgery so i can get in some more weight loss. Has anyone tried doing it after their surgery? How long should you wait to start to do hot yoga after surgery? It only concerns me because you burn a lot of calories in just an hour class and since we wont be eating many i dont want to be too depleted.

FYI, i believe my surgery will be sometime in January

I would be careful doing this immediately post surgery due potential for dehydration, not necessarily bc of calorie deprivation. You're at a high risk for dehydration post surgery and you lose a lot of Water through sweat in hot yoga-but consult with your doctor.

My personal opinion is not for 4-6 months. Your body is having major surgery. I am currently stuck on a couch because i thought giving the dog a bath and doing laundry was ok 3 days after.....I felt so good....guess not

Dehydration would be my biggest concern. And then how sore your abdomen is. Your surgeons answer is the most important, but I would imagine around 8 weeks. Basically around the same time you're cleared for weight lifting and resistance exercises

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
