Airline Tickets

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody,

I need your consumer opinions once again... My husband and I really want to fly to Kona Hawaii this spring sometime/ anytime to visit his birth parents. I know I have heard airline tickets are supposed to be getting cheaper because of the Delta price slash thing but so far I haven't found any great bargains on the net. I know several of you have mentioned being able to get good prices on travel and was wondering where your website of choice was or if there is anyone with special connections who could hook me up. I am planning on using our tax refund to get the tickets which probably won't be here till mid-February but was wondering if people could start giving me some advice or keeping their eyes open. Like I said, the time/date of travel isn't any big deal at all. Thanks for your help. Teresa

P.S. So far I LOVE my newish car. Thanks for all the feedback on that endeavor.

Teresa, if you go to expedia.com and sign up to get there weekly email on fare specials to Hawaii, they will send you specials all the time. I know this becasue my son lives in Hawaii and it is how I get his tickets. I also use Aloho Airlines alot too, they seem to be the cheapest from my area anyway. Best of Luck to you. Hawaii is beautiful.

Once you find a lower priced fare from Expedia, you could try Priceline.com. I think that's the name. I got a good price there last year. They tell you how low they might go and you get to put in the price you want. There are rules to follow and no refunds and all that, so be careful. :D

I like Cheaptickets.com. The sooner you can buy your tickets in advance, the cheaper they will be. Also, check direct with different airlines. The only thing about Priceline is you can't pick your times. You're likely to get a red-eye flight (and possible connecting flights). I always like to get a direct flight if possible- easier on the ears, saves time, and less chance of losing your luggage. If you're looking for a hotel too, you can get some good package deals.

Glad you're liking your car. Hope you have many years of safe, dependable use. My son is so proud of his too! He's actually keeping it clean. (Wonder how long that will last?) LOL

jetradar.com is the only place I go to search flights now, after consistently finding them to find the best deals. They don't 'promote' any particular airline, but are totally transparent, plus they include the extra fees and taxes that you know you have to pay but many other 'comparison' sites leave off. This is helpful, as you can make a fair assessment of which is the best price.

If you go on Skyscanner it will search all the sites for you and give you options for lowest fares, let's you click thru to the applicable site.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
