Stopped losing weight

Recommended Posts

I’m five weeks post op from my gastric sleeve.

Starting weight pre-op: 296

Weight on the day of surgery: 280

Current weight: 265

For awhile I wasn’t getting my Protein in but now that I can eat food again I’ve been eating Protein Bars to meet my requirements (I make sure I get high protein, low calorie, no added sugar and low carb)

So currently I’m down 31 pounds. The past 2 weeks I’ve fluctuating up and down 3 pound (also believe that could have been from my period) it’s just alittle discouraging not losing weight. I know I’m still fresh and new and that I just need to have patience.

I’m hoping now that I’m getting all my Water and protein in I could have longer workouts at the gym (instead of just 30-45 minutes).

I feel like maybe I’m just obsessing about losing weight alittle too much. Im 19 and I’ve been big all my life so this kind of gets me down especially since I was losing weight so quick before

The 'dreaded three week stall' - is very common - just hang in there and keep following the plan. We don't lose every week or in a linear fashion. 31 pounds is awesome so far.

Just stick to the plan. I was sleeved 10/16 and had been in a stall for 10 days or so. In the past 5 days I've dropped 4 lbs. I didn't change anything. I stuck to my plan and exercised like I have been doing. You will do the same. It may be 10 days, it might be 5 days, it might be 3 weeks. Your body is changing even though the scale may not reflect it.

31 lbs is amazing . Don’t get down on yourself, everyone stalls. Just keep to the program and keep in mind you may not have lost pounds but might have lost inches which is just as good !

You are doing just great actually - 31 lbs within about 4-5 weeks is brilliant!

Do not drop your calories by 240. Without knowing how many calories you are taking in at 5-6 weeks that advice could mean you could only be consuming 400 calories at this stage. ( I am 4 weeks out and consuming average 625 calories in a day.) I would try to use real food as opposed to the processed Protein bars, opt for string cheese, or some cubed turkey instead.

I eat anywhere from 400-600 a day then I burn off about 250-300 at the gym. On gym days I allow myself to eat alittle more

Stalls happen, you have to just stay the course. Fluids and Protein should be your major focus, especially as early out as you are. Try upping your calories a little, I found most stalls for me broke when I increased my calorie intake as opposed to decreasing it. Also change up your exercise a little to shock your body into burning fat again. I've been stalled for 2 months almost currently, it's frustrating but you just have to stick with it.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
