I’ve regained ALL the weight back 😢♀️

Recommended Posts

I'm a year and a half out from surgery. I have noticed if we're rushing, I can grab a burger and eat almost half of it. It started scaring me and I was worried I'd slip back into bad habits. We did a 26 day detox, just eating whole foods, all organic, I did lose 13 pounds but best of all I can tell it reset my pouch. Now I can eat like a few bites of my salmon and a few asparagus and I'm full. The thought of grabbing a quick burger makes me gag. On Sundays I started meal prepping again for the week.
If I were you I'd try a pouch reset, it definately won't hurt! Good luck to you and congrats on your baby.

Depends on the topic. There are certain "hot irons" that are better not to be touched. Regain or revisions being two of them.

I read the original post, the choices of food are not healthy, for example you can eat burger without the bun, no soda that means no sugar, sugar and processed carbs needs to be cut out of your diet, the first few weeks are go8ng to be difficult, but you'll get used too. Carbs are addictive like drugs, so you will go thru a withdraw and it will feel awful but after the second week you'll be fine. Also instead of going to the surgeon, go to a therapist, to find out why you eat, solve the emotional issue first, love yourself, be happy. Read the book "the power is within you" by Louise Hay. Good luck!

Which is why I’m asking if a pouch reset will shrink my stomach or am I too far gone? I’m fat for reason and I understand why because of my poor choices in food.< br> In the past with my weight loss journey I eventually did end up changing my eating habits due to the restriction but unfortunately when I became pregnant and was very sick until 32 weeks carbs were the only thing that would help settle my stomach, now I can’t seem to break that habit again.
At least with a restriction in place it means the less crap I can eat.

First off, congratulations on the baby. I can't imagine being pregnant post weight loss surgery. I gained all my weight through four pregnancies in six years back in the '90's. I nursed each one of my kids over a year and it did nothing to help me lose the pregnancy weight. I was starving through every pregnancy and starving when I was a nursing mom (made plenty of milk for my huge babies!)

Then when I was done with the baby stuff I just couldn't get the weight off. As I got older and pre menopausal it just got worse and worse. Believe me when I tell you this, time is not on your side, the older you get the harder losing weight will be.

To the person who said you are still beautiful this isn't about looks. This should never be about looks. It's about health. In time every obese person develops high blood pressure, diabetes, hip and knee problems, etc.

You want to get healthy for your child. You want to be able to run and play with your child. But even more importantly than that you want to set a good example for your child. When you eat a double cheeseburger in front of your four year old guess what? They want one too. Imagine how you are going to feel if your child gets fat and is picked on at school. Even worse, imagine your child developing health problems due to poor eating habits.

Personally I would seek counseling, and maybe medication, before signing up for another surgery. I hated having surgery the first time. Don't get me wrong, I love my sleeve, but I felt like crap for a long time afterwards. I am thankful my kids are grown up, I would hate to have to care for little ones after a major surgery.

Good luck to you. Are you married? The entire family needs to be establishing healthy eating habits. And exercising!

Every single group online is like that. I have seen heated arguments of sites for Disney fans, homeschool moms, and everything else out there. I have even seen fights on a cast Iron cooking Facebook page.

People have different opinions. That's life. Either scroll on and not get involved or join in the conversation. Either way it's fine.

I agree about therapist.
That was a requirement before my surgery. Find out why you eat
The way you do.
Also I eat a half of Protein bar and protein chips in evening or Yogurt. I eat at least every 3 hrs.
I am still losing weight.
I don't think that is gazing.

Grazing is a difficult topic to discuss. I am over a year out and have surpassed my weight loss goal. I still have good restriction when I eat the right foods so I eat often too. I have to or I don't get enough calories for the day. I am trying to stop losing weight.

I think the difference is making good choices and tracking. I gained a couple of pounds over the holiday last week by taking a bites here and a bite there of "bad' foods and not really tracking them. Allowing yourself healthy Snacks is not the same thing as grazing.

I always wonder about people who only eat 3 times a day post weight loss surgery. And who stop eating after 20 minutes or so each time. I would be like 80 pounds now if I did that!

You are right. Healthy snacking and grazing are two different things.

Regain just plain sucks. I'm 3 years post-op and up 30. I've been trying to rein in the eating again but it's really hard. We got fat for a reason, right? And it's hard to fight that reason, even with a sleeve to help. But at least we have this tool to help us. I've cut my carbs waaaaay down this week and am focusing on Protein. That's step one for me. After I get the carb cravings under control, I plan to start tracking calories. So, I guess my advice is, just start. Just start eating the way we know we're supposed to. Maybe we can't lose all the weight back, but maybe we can lose some. Maybe we can stop from gaining more. But we can't go on the way we've been and expect anything to get better.

I know I'm coming from a different situation, but I still think "just start" holds up.

Good luck to both of us. Congrats on your new little one!!

I love your honesty. And you really explained it perfectly how it can happen so easily.

I know this isn't going to be a popular suggestion, but have you thought about trying a weight loss drug? I know some bariatric surgeons and even General Practice doctors will prescribe them under close supervision. Maybe something like phentermine is just the jump start you need? I look at them as just another tool in the toolbox to help is fight the life long battle of obesity.

I used Phentermine before surgery I can't imagine the side effects when you have less stomach .. scary .. have you tried it post ?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
