So, I'm very open about having the surgery and talk to my friends all about it. Most people are encouraging! However, I do have a select few friends who aren't so encouraging. One friend, who is bigger than me, told me I don't need the surgery and to lose the weight all on my own. He should know that it isn't that easy! For a while even my own sister said it was the "easy way out"... she understands now but... is anyone else getting negativity?

I was on similar spot as you are.. although I was the one avoiding surgery... I struggled with weight for about 8 years.. working out.. eating healthy... but was not taking care of portions... I totally regret not getting my surgery done back then.. I completely happy with my weight loss. My surgery was 3/10/17 weighting 405, now 8 months post surgery my weight is 230lbs. Went from wearing pants size 54 to size 38 (slim fit). Still have to lose 50 lbs to meet my weight goal of 180lbs. For people say that is an easy way out.. but remember surgery will help you 50% , the rest is on you sticking to plan and working out every day. It is a life changer. Just see the before/after photos from others to inspire you. Dont let another year go by.. best of luck

I actually haven’t told anyone about my surgery. The only person who knows is my husband and doctors of course. I’m scared for the reactions you’re describing, I tend to internalize a lot and take a lot of comments personally and for that reason I decided for my own peace of mind to keep it to myself. I’m sorry you’re dealing with negative people, I have found that people like that are usually feeling bad about things in their own lives and feel the need to tear others down a bit.

Had my surgery in 2013. I didn't tell to many people about it. But when I lost a lot of weight quickly people started figuring it out. I think some people felt threatened by my weight loss. I was always the fat funny friend. I did lose some of my friends out nothing but jealousy but I did have one friend who was so against it but then decided to do it after she saw my results. This is a new beginning for you a new life. Focus on your journey. Real friends will stand with you.

I haven't told many people (only two ) and the day before surgery my friend said to me of you could lose ten pounds on the preop diet why don't you just forget about the surgery! I flipped on this friend because :

A. I was so nervous I could barely breathe and this friend was my support system that voiced no concerns prior

B. The day before surgery is not the time to try to convince someone to change their minds

C. This friend knew my rare comorbidity which was the reason for the surgery

All of this to say that sometimes people mean well but cannot execute their concerns, albeit well intended, correctly. Take it with a grain of salt. Wash the hurt away with a shower, continue YOUR JOURNEY, and live your truth.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
