Hey all! I just got sleeved on the 15th. Came home on the 16th and today I'm allowed Protein Shakes, yogurt and cream Soups. So my question is this...How do I get into a routine? Can some of you tell me how you did it? I want to just measure my food intake and do it that way. I cant tell when I'm full yet and dont want to over eat like I did yesterday. Please any advise will be great!!

Sip. Sip your yoghurts and your Soups from a teaspoon. Only 2 to 3 partial level teaspoons per minute. Savour the taste and flavour.

Eat mindfully.

Slow right down or stop when you feel part full.

Take 15-25 minutes off. Drink some of your Water allowance in small sips. Don't pour. Don't gulp.

Your Protein Shakes do not count against your food allowance. Just make sure you reach the minimum Protein required each day. Also use a Protein Shake that is high in protein and low in sugars.

I always used measuring cups to measure out the quantity of food for each meal.

Did you really overeat? I can't imagine that you could really on liquids unless you just meant you drank too fast. For over the first week, I was basically just sipping on a Protein Drink throughout the day. I think I was about 500 calories of drinks for at least the first 5-7 days. Then started adding other things,, like Soups. liquid is very difficult to actually fill up on. It goes right through, and most people don't get a full feeling with liquids.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
