I enjoy sashimi & chirashi more than maki or nigiri because I can more easily control the amount of rice I'm getting. Good luck!

shashimi works great for me. Also poke bowls because i can eat the amount of starch that i want.

I had sushi for first time post-op this past weekend. I’m only 4.5wks out, so I just had some sashimi without the rice. Just ate the small bits of tuna and salmon on top. It was DIVINE. Also had maybe 3 pods of edamame Beans.

Thank you for all the advice... I am in love with the fact that I can get my Protein from sushi.... yay! and Edamame!! I get the bags now and eat them as a snack mid day.

I tried shashimi and poke for the first time and that was awesome. I appreciate the suggestions.

Thanks everyone!

don't eat the rice, you will have 1-2 bites and then be full. lol! Just stick to Protein and a bit of your seaweed salad.

It would take you a full week to eat 1/2 a roll!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
