Feeling badly 4 days after sleeve surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi! I had sleeve surgery on Monday afternoon and was feeling OK until today. Now I'm slightly nauseated, have a mild headache, feel bloated and have almost no energy. I've been following my doctor's post-op instructions. Is this morning? Thank you!

I was fine the first week and then this week I’ve been tired a lot. Like can’t funtion tired. I’m 10 days out still on liquids. I even fell over and slammed one of my incisions on the corner of a cabinet knocking it open. Dr said it was all normal. If your feel way to unnormal please call your surgeon.

Thank you Nataliesmom. I did call my surgeon's office today and they didn't seem overly concerned since I'm not running a fever. Just hope this stage passes soon. Pam

I was sleeved Monday.

Purely on liquids and puddings. Had a large hiatal as well, I feel pretty good. Definitely some bloating and a tiny bit of stomach pain (short lived) after eating too much.

Other than that a decent amount of abdomen pain

I didn't have a lot of pain post-surgically, but I was completely tired and without energy for at least a month. Now, at 2.5 months out, I'm still easily tired, despite sleeping fairly well. And I keep running into stalls--or maybe my loss has just slowed a great deal. I have faith that this will work in the long run, though. No matter how I look at my loss so far, it's still greater than at any other time in my life, and I know it's not done.

Hi Pam, I had surgery October 30, 2017. My first day post-op was horrible. Pain cross my chest and spasms all day. Dr. Wanted to keep me an extra day. I should have listened. Trying to keep up with the liquids was very hard. I also was drained no energy x about 2 weeks. I was started on soft diet on Tuesday and can't seem to eat much. Dr says it's normal x me. I've had the lapband, revision and finally had to be taken out in January. He said I have scar tissue and expects it to be tight. Hope you recover quickly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
