There are some based on egg Protein that taste different, but they all taste kinda bad. Keep switching until you find one you can stand. I like the cheap body fortress isolate from Walmart, but I’d drink whatever.

I drank just about anything pre op, but post op the only thing my body likes is Premier Protein. I don’t get sick on the others but I’ll burp a lot meaning my tummy don’t like them.

Hello :) I'm new here but I can give you some good advice on this. I'm vegetarian, have been having major nausea (7 weeks out of op) and my dietician thinks its Protein related - we will see! I also have a lot of nausea associated with milk products and creamy consistencies. So it sent me on a field trip of sorts and I have some decent products that I've tried that you may like. This is an essay - sorry! But am passing on some advice from a professional and giving my taste buds a voice too. We have a hard time finding quality tasty food and taste is as important as quality to me. I'm Aussie so these are products over here but web search if you have a different location. Here they are:

My favourite one is "Ultra Leaan Protein" (yes 2 'a's in Leaan :)) by "Cybrog" in the wild raspberry flavour. I add 3 scoops to my bottled Water = 15gms of protein. This is really just like a cordial - close to a poweraid but maybe a little more artificial sweetener (I could do without some of that personally but its the best tasting overall product so far). The best thing about this is it contains the required amino acids too. It's expensive but worth it for me - 2 bottles of water with this a day = 30gms of extra protein. This was $79.95 AUD a tub of 60 scoops but I am sure I can find it cheaper elsewhere! (??)

My Dietitian gave me a sample of "Formulate" banana shake mix. Comes in a bottle - just add water (convenient). This has a whopping 35 gms of protein per small bottle. BUT don't expect a shake taste, its watery and really like a banana water flavour. It is pleasant enough though. The down side is that it took me half a day to get down with my sippy sippy status! By then the seeds it contains swelled and at the end I was swallowing expanded chia seeds. Not a big deal but for us guys something to remember. Maybe worth halving before adding water and doing in 2 lots? (this was a free sample, don't know the cost)

I also took it upon myself to try the "Isopure" glass bottles of pre-made 'cordial'. These tasted really crappy but if you can get down one 600ml (actually 591mls! such an odd amount) bottle in small amounts over the day you can nab 40gms of extra protein. It's zero carb too zero sugar. $5.95 a bottle

I picked all these up from the Wexford pharmacy at Murdoch St. John of God hospital complex Western Australia. They have loads of other products too.

Other than this, some complete Proteins was recommended so not just baked Beans but baked beans on toast /muffin when able is a complete protein with protien and amino acids. eggs are a complete protein as well. Of course if you are a meat eater, no probs.

Best of luck!!

Mix them with sugar free instant pudding. It's what I've been doing and it always taste good. Im a Peanut Butter guy so I've also been adding PB2 to vanilla and it's great. But regardless Protein pudding is a simple yummy easy way to get your numbers

Vanilla or caramel (the best one!) Premier Protein with a double espresso (or just regular coffee, just make sure it is strong enough). Taste like a latte. With a chocolate shake it is more like mocha. That said, coffee will mask a synthetic taste of any shake.

They all have different levels of tasting crappy but you can doctor them up. Currently, I'm drinking a Premier Protein (vanilla) shake with 2 teaspoons of sugar free white chocolate pudding mix in it. It makes it taste like cake batter and worth the 1 extra carb. Sometimes I'll add blueberries to it, but today I just added chia seeds and benefiber. Also, the sugar free lemon pudding mix is pretty awesome to add in as well. Play around with the flavors, you might surprise yourself in what you end up liking.

I don't mind the Atkin's shakes. The flavor isn't overly Protein tasting and they come in two sizes which is nice. The chocolate and strawberry are my favorite flavors but they are all okay.

Before surgery I was doing the Herbal Life shakes and those are good. Post op still can drink them, now that I am cleared. I did a lot of research before surgery trying to find a high Protein Drink that was clear for the first few weeks and I don't like how long it takes to drink 16 oz of liquid for 20 grams of protein. So I had found New Whey Protein tubes at GNC first and then on Amazon. Each tube has 42 grams in a 3.5oz tube. I dilute each tube w 1:1 ratio which is about 21 grams each serving. They are sweet and have bout six flavors so you are not stuck with the same flavor every day. For me this was the best way to get protein and be able to get my Water intake up.

I’m switching between Isopure, Premier Protein, and GNC whey isolate powders in chocolate and Cookies and cream. None are amazing of course. I’m still looking for new flavors to try

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
