Hello, I'm wondering if you are pre op or post op? If post op then drinking all of that Water will fill your pouch and make it impossible to eat. There is supposed to be 30 minutes between drinking and eating before the meal and 45 minutes after the meal. For me, once I had the surgery all of my cravings disappeared! Most people that I've spoken to relate the same thing. Also my tastebuds changed. I didn't like the same things anymore. Other people in my support group say the same. I'm at week 11 and I can watch the food commercials and be around food without wanting any of it. I've lost 48 pounds since September. I do carry my Protein Shake, water, and healthy Snacks every time I leave my apartment. I think this helps me stay on track. Good luck and I hope that my experience helps you.

I'm only told to wait 20 minutes after meal 20 minutes before. So depends on the plan :)

If you love chocolate, you just might enjoy the hot flavored chocolate they sell on this website. I have tried Amaretto, Raspberry and the hot chocolate with the mini marshmallows. This is what I have at work while others eat donuts, candy, pie, ect... There is ALWAYS food at our clinic in the break room. I can say I have not been tempted.

I'm a horrible snacker at work, specifically in the afternoon. The last two hours before we leave are often slow and if I'm not busy I want to eat.

My go to work Snacks are cheese (I do eat full fat cheese per my nut but you can get reduced fat cheese or cheese sticks), beef Jerky, nuts, yogurt and sometimes a Protein Bar if I really need something.

As for work temptation I weigh if it's really worth the calories when things are brought into the office. This time of year is hard for sure. For example my co-worker makes the most amazing Christmas Cookies ever. I made the choice to eat one but I made sure I tracked it and I compensated for it later. I don't tell myself I can never have anything again because that makes me what it more but I'm more choosey about what I do indulge on.

ETA: I'm a year post op and have gotten looser recently. Early out I was very strict about snacking.

To get rid of cravings you have to get rid of all sweet things in the diet. snack on Protein at work. Don’t allow a carb snack if at at all, then only at home after dinner. At work, consider that you just need fuel and make yourself un-hungry by eating protein. Ex.

String cheese, or baby bel cheese

smoked salmon rolled up around cream cheese with capers in it

pure parmesan ‘crackers” that are nut crunchy cheese, no carbs

sliced roast beef or turkey (can roll it up over a slice of pickle)

greek yogurt plain full fat with Protein Powder and a bit of coconut Water splashed in to be able to mix and give the tiniest sweetness.

Best is to eat protein all the middle of the day. Starchy carbs are great for your gut bugs and will help you sleep, so save them for after or part of your dinner.

protein keeps me from craving. Carbs make me crave carbs.

I'm really struggling with this too. At my new job, I got into the terrible habit of snacking at my desk, usually chocolate or other sweets. Thanks for the tip about Lily's Chocolate. I need to go back to the Jello and jello pudding treats, which I ate quite a bit after surgery.

For me, I think the problem is that I get hungry around 3 pm, and I haven't planned for it, so I just grab whatever is near, which is never anything healthy. I need to plan for it and have something healthy and satisfying at hand. Maybe that will help you too?

When I worked from home, I ate a lot of fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, string cheese, and frozen Chobani tubes. But it's more difficult now because the fridge at work is disgusting and I don't want to use it. Maybe I'll get a cooler and pack it every day with healthy things.

Totally agree! If I eat carbs, then I'm soon craving more. It makes the problem worse.

The most important thing to do, in my mind, is get off carbs or at least processed carbs. When I've been eating too many processed carbs, I switch to fruit and soon the processed sweets are way too sweet for my tastebuds.

Yeah i do. And to make it worse my office is full of secret fat kids that bring in chick fil a Breakfast to share, candies, doughnuts etc. you name it they have it.

It got to a point where i just had to stop keeping Snacks at home and at my desk. I can't eat what i don't have. And i realize now that when i do that, it's because im bored so i find something else to do to keep me occupied.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
