I was born in Thailand, and unlike most Thais that are small and petite, I am not. I was adopted and grew up in a meat and Potato, eat everything on your plate family.

I currently live in Hawaii. Have lived in many places all over the world, and with that came the desire to eat foods from all over the world. So now I am here and I and I am delighted to join you all.

I have not been banded yet. I see the surgeon on Nov 2nd for the all clear and then I am scheduled to be banded on Nove 6th. I am nervous.

Congrats to all the other newbies out there!:clap2:

Cheers to meat and potatoes!!!! That is exactly what I grew up on and still love.... I don't blame the meat and potatoes tho..... It is the portion of those foods that is my issue!!!!

I am plain and simple and overeater!!!!! I have been mentally preparing for the band and will seek the support I need.

Good luck to you as November 6th is right around the corner.

Hi Mes,

I don't know if I have met you at the Support meeting. I was at the last one Oct for the Contouring lecture. I will miss next month because I will be getting banded the day before. Will look for you the following month.

Aloha, Island Lass, and fellow Banders! It's so nice to meet you all, wherever you are!!! I'm in Hawaii, too, and scheduled to be banded on Nov 5--not long now!! Do any of you have any tips for me before or after "BBDay" (Big Band Day)""

Aloha,

You may need to get some Isopure drinks for the first week. The easiest way it goes down i found is with crystal light. I couldnt stomach the stuff without it. GNC has a few flavors these are ready made ones, but they cost about $4 each. You will need maybe 7 or so... after that the next week, best deal to get is EAS chocolate shake they have a big bag at costco or the costco chocolate premier shake. Its 30grams and YUM.

Good luck...

miriam

PS you can call me if you have questions.. my email:aloha@seashorehi.com...

Miriam--

Thanks for the great suggestions! I spend half my life in costco, so will definitely be making a shopping list!!! I'm a Crystal Light addict, too! Congrats on your losses! Can't wait to join you. Was the surgery smooth sailing? Any tips??

Penny

Thanks for the tips on drinks. I have tried two of the Isopure. I like them, kind of. I do not belong to costco. I will have to see what SAMS club offers. I work right down the street from WalMart/SAM near Ala Moana.

I found another shake type drink for week 2 and it isn't too bad. Is Carnation Instant Breakfast on week 2???

13 days and counting. Cheers

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
