James Marusek 5,244 Posted November 15, 2017 Ran across an article on kettlebell exercise this morning that seemed interesting. [It was written by Erik Lief which reminds me of Lief Erikson who was a Norse explorer from Iceland - He was the first known European to have discovered continental North America (excluding Greenland), before Christopher Columbus. Hey, you can't go wrong with a Norse explorer. Anyways in a strange disconnected universe, these two individuals are probably blood related and therefore a reliable source.] According to the article the kettlebell is excellent at toning muscles all over, and it burns calories quickly and efficiently. And its use produces cardio and strength benefits at the same time. "[T]he average study participant burned approximately 20 calories per minute during a typical kettlebell workout," "The kettlebell swing is the foundation for many other kettlebell exercises, and it simultaneously firms your butt and your abs," In addition to working multiple muscles at once, what also makes the kettlebell better than conventional weights is the movement involved. You see, while individual dumbells require that you to avoid using momentum to get the benefit of each lift, kettlebells call upon the user to incorporate momentum into the task. And so while this "cheating" detracts from benefits being sought by the dumbell lifter, it actually aids the kettlebell swinger. https://www.acsh.org/news/2017/10/31/oh-yes-kettlebell-guess-what-you-should-try-it-12065 So I guess I will give this a go. Went to Amazon - found out they come in different sizes - weighed a filled orange jug which yielded 10 pounds - that gave me an approximate weight I could easily handle- after all I am 69 - ordered a 5 lb. and a 10 lb. kettle bell - that gave me free shipping - otherwise shipping would be almost as much as the cost of the kettlebells. One of the advantage is this is a good at home exercise. 4 Apple203, Stella S, FluffyChix and 1 other reacted to this

JerseyJules 862 Posted November 16, 2017 I do basic kettlebell swings and it gets me sweating and winded almost as much as deadlifts. Good tool, but be sure to do them properly or you can get hurt. 4 Stella S, Sosewsue61, FluffyChix and 1 other reacted to this

travelergirl 142 Posted November 16, 2017 I use kettlebells at the gym. You can do a number of exercises with them. Start with low weight and really pay attention to form to minimize risk of injury. The bands are also surprisingly effective and easy to use at home or when traveling.Be sure to hydrate and have a Protein meal within 30 minutes of finishing workout to help your body repair the muscles.Check out you tube for video options to keep things changing/interesting.Good luck. Let us know how it goes.Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

I honestly didn't mean it that way but re-reading it can see where you got that from! I truly meant, look at how straight his back is. When he says make it like a kitchen table, it's really beautiful form. And the definition of his muscles makes him completely ripped. LOL. Swearsies! No HD here. GotProlactinoma 458 Posted December 18, 2017 Anyone already use kettlebells? I want one so badly. I need to work out at home so I can’t have someone show me how to do it properly. Will have to rely on YouTube. I might get a kettlebell soon.

I think Amazon has Kettlebells adapter (handles) that adapt to regular weighs.. you may wany to try that.. so you have your regular weights and use adapter for kettlebells... 2 Stella S and FluffyChix reacted to this
