Question for Women only re: Muenstral Cycle

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies,

I couldn't get an appt with my gyno for another six weeks, so I'm posting to see if anyone else has had this issue. Since I've started dropping weight, my periods are VERY heavy and VERY crampy. One of the nurses at Dr. Spivak's office said it's because my body is still creating enough estrogen for a "heavier me" so I've not got too much estrogen in my body and that's why this is happening, and that it should calm down after I stop losing weight. Well, one thing I didn't bring up (because I was too embarassed) was the fact that my sex drive has gone from somewhat normal, to nothing at all. I don't want it, and could go weeks without it (much to my boyfriend's chagrin). I thought that losing weight, and having more energy and feelling sexier would increase my sex drive, but it's just gone. Did anyone else go thru this?

My periods stayed the same in all regards but one. During the last 6 - 7 months, my period has shifted to a full week later than it used to be. Each month, I'd be 1 - 2 days late starting, and the next month I would be that late + another few days.

This sucks because I've always been regular to within a day, maybe two. And I used to be able to schedule vacation so that I wouldn't be on it... but now, who has a friggin clue... :phanvan

Your sex drive is probably 90% hormonal and 10% psychological. Give or take, that's just a guess. Don't let your decreased libido affect your weightloss journey.

Have you ever had your hormone levels checked?

Wheetsin,

I'm planning on have my gyno check my hormone levels when I go in. I just hate feeling like this, I haven't had cramps like this since I was sixteen. Mine actually moved back a week too now that I think about it, the first one after surgery was a week late (had me FREAKED out that I might be preggers).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
