dzelaya90 17 Posted November 15, 2017 [mention=328355]dzelaya90[/mention] 3 week surgiversary - you are still a virgin!![emoji6] people will not feel ANY restriction while they are on liquids. liquids pass right thru you. yogurt is a "slider", easy to eat, can eat lots without a prob. (not true for everyone, but for me it is) you can eat yogurt though. stop when you are supposed to stop. cookies, candies, popcorn, chips are also easy to go down, and you won't feel any restriction. so these foods are a sad "no no"!! if you have a meal, and you still are feel hungry - KNOCK IT OFF!! LOL amount you are allowed (even if you feel you could eat more - ) don't do it. People have been shot for less!! LOL there is a saying in WLS land - JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN, DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULD!! Ignore the head hunger (easier said than done) you should/need to measure and ONLY eat the allotted amount per NUT. (nutritionist) Not losing weight for one, two weeks is not an "official" stall. 3+ weeks is a stall . most people do stall during weight loss. stop worrying (you'll give yourself grey hairs/headaches) down 17 lbs - that's great. you are doing fine. good luck kathyThank you so much! This helped a lot especially coming from a bariatric Veteran to a bariatric virgin here haha! I will keep fighting that head hunger with all I got! 2 BunnyJean and ProudGrammy reacted to this
Sherry Rice 184 Posted November 15, 2017 I'm only 5 days post-op but feel absolutely NO restriction whatsoever. I can slowly eat a bowl of BariatricPal Protein Soup and finish the bowl without any pain, nausea, or any difficulty whatsoever. Scares me. I wrote my nutritionist about that today, but I honestly seem to be way hungrier than when I was on the full liquid diet pre-op. [emoji20] Don't worry, I PROMISE YOU WILL. Liquids don't challenge the sleeve, they literally stay in your tummy for 3-5 minutes and are into your intestines. You will feel it when you eat real food. It literally feels uncomfortable, almost hurts it feels so full. Be patient you have 75-80% of your stomach gone, it will be restricted [emoji4]5' 5"HW: 259CW: 234GOAL: Healthy and hard 140-ish? 3 BunnyJean, jennypenny1998 and SummerShadow reacted to this

Thank you Sherry. That helps immensely, and it does make sense. I weighed for the first time today and found I only lost 5 lbs. Kind of bummed about that. I have so much to lose and so far to go and if it's only 5lbs now, I wonder how slow the loss will be later and if it will be as slow or non-existent as the times I tried to diet. Ugh. But at least I feel better about the restriction mystery. Thanks again. **hugs**

Before surgery i had no issues at all drinking them but now they are the most disgusting thing to me. I am drinking Protein Water instead recommended by my doctor (Bipro) which somewhat sits better with me. Try different brands/flavors. I had issues tolerating shakes after surgery, I tried so many brands and for awhile avoided shakes all together and drank a protein Water instead and GNC has a protein "tea". Once I reintroduced shakes I found the Atkins ones are pretty easy to go down. They are smooth and don't have a strong protein smell or taste. 1 jennypenny1998 reacted to this
futureslimmama 28 Posted November 15, 2017 Are any/all of you on acid reflux medication? A lot of veterans swear that this hunger is actually acid reflux and you need meds/ different meds/ increase in meds. Restriction happens with dense Protein, if it is always eaten first and no more than 4oz at a time, then vegetables, then whatever else is allowed. Soup, yogurt, tuna are all soft or semi-liquid and will not feel restricted. I feel restriction with chicken thigh meat and grilled salmon - that is the only thing I have consumed so far that is fairly dense. I feel no restriction with refried Beans or Soups or tuna - unless I were to eat an actual tuna steak maybe. I agree with the above. I always felt hungry until I was placed on protonix and Zantac. Now I am hungry if I skip a meal or its meal times. Also wanted to add that I do feel restriction with soft foods, yogurt and tuna. But the restriction is worse with chicken and fish and meats as stated above. 1 jennypenny1998 reacted to this

I am the same way right now but with water!! I hate it and have to really be in the mood to drink it. I have started to dislike the Bariatric Advantage Protein Powder, so I've switched over to Premier Protein and the Slimfast generic brand.

mamamc32 132 Posted November 16, 2017 I was sleeved 9/21, so a few weeks ahead of you. I was hungry when I was on liquids and even soft foods, but it improved a lot when I started eating denser Proteins. You'll definitely feel your restriction at that point! Now I eat 5 times a day (three meals, two snacks). My meals are about 3 - 4 oz. (2-3 oz. Protein, 1 oz. veggie, sometimes 1 oz. carb). I sometimes feel a little hungry, but it's not too bad. Eating often helps a lot. I would worry that my sleeve wasn't working, too, but I can assure you . . . it works great! Yours will, too! 1 jennypenny1998 reacted to this
