December Surgery Dates

Recommended Posts

Well this has been a rollercoaster. First my surgery was on the fourth. Then it was moved to the seventh.
Now today I woke up to work my shift and the office manager is calling me and they want to move my surgery to Saturday.
Apparently it’s an elective procedure so I can be bumped all around....
I’m a bit stressed and anxious now [emoji51]

Good morning! Did you have your surgery last weekend?

I am on day 3 of my 14 day liquid diet. Not to bad yet. I have my colonoscopy and EGD on the 7th. More scared of that then the surgery. LOL

You won't feel a thing...you're asleep the whole time![emoji2] I had no issues afterwards.

Awesome! Well my operation is over. I’m a bit sore in my tummy. Up walking tho without difficulty just a bit of nausea and dizziness..

I'm so glad you're doing well. Congratulations on your surgery! What a pleasant surprise to get it done so early. How long will you stay off from work?

Yes it’s been hard to post while in hospital. I’m not sure if it was the anesthesia or what but my eyesight has been very blurry if I’m trying to read. Doctor says probably four weeks for me off of work because of my job.

Sending good vibes everyone’s way for their procedure this month...we have a bunch.

So sorry to hear about your blurry eyesight...that has to be uncomfortable. I'm glad you will at least be able to be home for a while to recover before going back to work.

It is definitely an exciting time. I can't wait to hear about everyone else's experiences as well.

How is your recovery going?

My surgery was originally scheduled for 4:30pm Friday afternoon, it ended up being delayed until 7pm. Other than the delay causing me to be extremely thirsty and a horrible time getting my IV in (1 nurse, 2 anesthesiologists, numbing, and laughing gas), it went really well. I had no pre-op liquid diet, just ate lightly the week before surgery. They kept me in the hospital 2 nights, which was planned prior to the surgery to make sure I could get my liquids properly, and I was able to come home Sunday afternoon. Everyone was right, I didn't even bother to open the book, watch tv or use much else of what I brought. I mainly slept and got up to walk. I was fortunate and had no nausea and had no issue keeping fluids down, but the desire to drink at all was lacking though and required some effort. Ice chips were great, but I know they don't sit well with everyone. I did not have much gas pain, but I did and still do have a lot of pain at the largest incision site, the one they manipulated the most, under my left ribs. I am taking the pain killers they gave me and they have been helping. My surgeon told me everything is healing well and will slowly get better each day, which it seems to be true so far. I have my follow up appointment next Monday. I do have more of a desire to drink now, but it feels like I am constantly drinking to keep up with the 4 ounces an hour which I am slowly getting used to.

Wow...it sounds like you're doing great! The details you gave have me imaging what it is going to be like for me in the next couple of weeks. Thank you so much for sharing your story and I look forward to hearing about more of your journey. [emoji2]

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
