OK, I'm hungry enough to chew off my arm!

Recommended Posts

Days 1 and 2 of this pre-op diet weren't so bad, but today, the 3rd day is really tough. I went to bed hungry last night and dreamt that a friend sent me and my husband a huge honkin' piece of cake with some kind of blueberry frosting and I ate the whole thing without sharing. thwhome.gif

So here's my frantic question to those who are a bit ahead of me but not yet banded: does it get any better or is this status quo for the next 10 days? :(

Sue - I only had to do the pre-op for six days and that was rough. I actually 'cheated' a bit. I had a piece of that liv-active cheese a couple times and got a grilled chicken sandwich from McDonalds - threw away everything but the chicken and nibbled on that for a few hours one night. It really helped. Made me feel like a human. I really got pretty weak by the end.

Good luck to you! I'm four days since banding and now its hard to get enough stuff in me. Fluids/protein/vitamins/biotin/blood thinner injections - I actually made a checklist so I wouldn't forget anything important.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
