What's the deal? Can we eat it? Should we not?

Yes, those of us who are bariatric surgery patients can eat popcorn if our plans allow it.

Nonetheless, just because we can doesn't mean we should. Popcorn is a slider (a.k.a. slurry food) that lacks sufficient Protein.

Since it's a slider, one could graze on a 1-pound bag of popcorn, never feel full, and have consumed 2000 calories over the course of a few hours.

In other words, tread carefully. Good luck to you. :)

Sliders (a.k.a. slurry foods) are processed carb-laden foods such as popcorn, crackers, pretzels, chips, Cookies, pastries, milk shakes, ice cream, and donuts.

Sliders enter your sleeve as a liquid slurry and 'slide' effortlessly through your stomach past your pyloric valve into your intestines, enabling the sleeve to tolerate more food. Hence, they're called 'sliders.'

Since sliders don't promote fullness or satiety in any meaningful way, our sleeves can continually accept these types of foods all day long. In sum, they promote rapid weight regain.

I was wondering that myself. I just had my first appointment to get the process started. I didn’t have any questions during my first meeting with the dietitian but now I have a book full. The popcorn question was one of them because I’ve always enjoyed popcorn when watching movies.

I'll have a bag of air popped popcorn over a day as a snack. Only 200 calories worth but lots of salt so it's an occasional treat.

Why does that just completely gross me out? lol

popcorn is no issue for me. My NUT said I can eat it in moderation after I was fully healed, about 12+ weeks, and to pop it myself if possible (air popped).

Popcorn is not a slider for me. I cannot eat very much of it before I feel full but it is a slider for many so just be conscious of that and if you notice you can eat large amounts be aware of that.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
