Everyone losses at their own rate. At 4 months post-op I was down 50 lbs, but I had a little less to lose. Still my weight loss felt slow. The only thing the doctor was worried about was whether I was happy and healthy while losing.

Sounds better than me. 310 at start on Sept 13, now im 287. 23lbs in 8 weeks (2 months!). What a crock of **** this procedure is, for me at least! Ive been the same damn weight for the last 3 weeks, then 2 weeks prior, i was the same damn weight for 3 weeks. Only reason i lost weight was because straight outta surg (iv probably) and i got sick and couldnt eat another week. But being not sick, eating right, exercise ever single day...nothing. You have no idea how disappointed i am at this procedure in me. Its not like its been 10lbs a month either. Like i said, it was 10lbs loss in 1 week from sickness, 9lbs first week out...and thats it. Im so disgusted.

Amburmist, that's 3 pounds per week -- in 50 weeks, that 150 pounds. Plus whatever you lost in the 2 week pre-surgery liquid period.

Apple, the problem is that it wasn't 3lbs a week. It was 9lbs the week after surgery and 11lbs after 1 week of having the stomach flu. That's it. Otherwise, week after week the scale remains the same. If it WERE 3lbs a week, do u know how happy I'd be? That would be wonderful!! But it's not. Remove the 1 week of me in the bathroom and not eating anything period and I'd have only lost 9lbs in 23 weeks, which would piss me off even more.
So I have no idea why my body is just holding on to the weight but it's ridiculous, especially when I always thought losing weight was simple biology/math: calories in vs calories out. Obviously it isn't because im only eating 600 cals a day, certainly not enough for a 300lb woman to maintain her current weight.

The scale doesn't show everything. I constantly measure myself, because when I hit a plateau I'm still loosing inches.

My dietitian said that a great result is to lose around 30% of your excess body weight in the first three months. So subtract your goal weight from your highest weight and work out 30% of that figure. However that's the bench mark for a fantastic result there will be a lot of variations of that some higher some lower and as long as you are losing its a good thing [emoji3]

Yes it sounds very normal, and maybe better than a lot of us actually! Wow great job! I know for me I’m only a month out but I’ve only lost 15 lbs in 4 weeks. So I think your doing fantastic for losing 44 lbs in just a couple months! Great work. Remember slow & STEADY weight loss is good! Keep up the hard work!👌🏼

Oh my goodness I’m so sorry. It sounds like you’ve really been through a lot! That must be awfully difficult. I hope you feel better very soon.

So, it actually is 3# a week, average. Sounds like you lost a bunch of weight because you were sick, and Water loss verses true weight loss got masked. Look to long term averages, is my recommendation.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
