There is no yes or no answer to this. Like most things in life, it depends completely on the person.

Depends. For some yes, for others no.

For me it does not hurt.

For another, she says it's unbearable and insists on being numb.

For me, the numbing shot hurt 10x worse than the fill poke so I told them to knock that numbing crap off. Hasn't hurt since.

Well, for me, the lidocaine shot hurts (those shots are EVIL), but I go completely numb after that, so I can't actually feel the fill needle. I don't actually feel the band tightening, either. It's a REALLY funky feeling when they pull the fill needle out, though, because of the suction of the port.

They had to poke me a lot since they didn't realize port was flipped.. The only thing that hurt was when they pushed down on the port to find it (which they did a lot). Now that it's moved, my port does not hurt when pushed on, so I wonder if that was from the port being flipped. 5 minutes later, it would be bruised and the poking would start hurting. But if your port is easily accessed, my experience is that it's a breeze.

The numbing shot doesn't bother me either, they did that a couple times when they were doing their series of pokes that went on for a while.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
