MofromMs 18 Posted November 11, 2017 I am a month and 5 days post-op and have only lost 10 lbs. My surgeon said we should lose an average of 20lbs a month. I was losing more weight before the surgery than after! I'm starting to feel like I made a mistake. I'm also having trouble getting in my 64 oz of Fluid in a day because I can't drink fast. I was trying to eat based on the diet given by the Dr. but having to wait an hour was making it even harder to get the fluid in and I was becoming dehydrated, I actually still am a little, so I've quit trying to eat at all during the day just to get the fluid in. The Dr said if we didn't eat right now it was ok we could have Protein Shakes here and there but he really wants me off the shakes by now if possible and to be eating. I'm just so frustrated that the weight loss slowed after surgery! Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted November 11, 2017 I mix ready-made Protein Isopure punch half and half with crystal light lemonade. It is tart and clear, so easier to go down than thick sweet shakes. Please get your liquids in, don't worry so much about that hour wait time right now, make it 30 minutes instead. You can do that once you get better at drinking all your liquids, and are on solid protein. Some people supplement one proein shake a day even years out to make sure they get enough protein in. I am not losing fast either right now, we are not consuming many calories and we are healing, and we all lose differently. Try to relax. 2 trailtramper and mayansuz reacted to this
MofromMs 18 Posted November 11, 2017 I am counting the shakes as part of my liquid. But my last meeting with my Dr he said I should be losing 3-5 lbs a week. That was 2 weeks ago. I've lost 2 lbs since then. Again I was losing more weight on the pre-op diet than I am now, I'm eating less, I could have one lean cuisine dinner at night. The only difference between now and then is getting enough Fluid in. I just don't understand.Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using BariatricPal mobile app

MofromMs 18 Posted December 27, 2017 Well now it's been over 2 months and I'm only down another 13lbs and I hardly can eat anything or get in enough fluids because I'm staying so nauseated! I think I'm nauseous because of dehydration and because I'm having to take more potassium because it's running low and affecting my heart. I don't know how I'm not dropping weight like crazy since I can barely eat and half the time I throw it back up. I'm miserable! I can tell in my clothes. I have a pair of jeans that fit the beginning of last week that last night kept sliding off my backside last night but it concerns me that I'm losing muscle mass because I'm barely getting in any Protein. Anyone else having problems with nausea like this?Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using BariatricPal mobile app
mylighthouse 782 Posted December 27, 2017 Hello, I'm 13 months out and I still get nauseated....just not as bad as I used to. The nausea was horrible for me for the first several months. The only thing that helped me get through it and helped me to drink and eat were anti-nausea meds. My doctor gave me a prescription for ondansetron (generic name). I believe the brand name is Zofran. In my opinion, you need to get the prescription so that you will be able to drink, eat, and get your Protein. That will help you get the food and drink that you need, and then you will feel better and start dropping a little more weight. Please ask your doctor, the pills really work. MofromMs 18 Posted December 27, 2017 I have it but I have to be careful taking it because it can prolong your qtc interval and I have a heart condition. I feel like I'm screwed all the way around on this. But I do take it occasionally.Sent from my Alcatel 6055U using BariatricPal mobile app
