I had my surgery Monday, I'm four days out and on Phase 3. I find that it is really hard to get the fluids in, depending on the time of day. My scale hasn't really budged. I've met my fluid goals (barely). Today I wanted some fresh broth, ordered Soup, strained everything out and drank that with unflavored Protein Powder. Then it dawned on me - is this allowed in Phase 3? Is it normal not to see an immediate drop on the scale?

If you are only four days out, you are still bloated. Give it at least another week.

I was on broths post surgery for 1 week. After that, i got to eat soft meats (chicken, fish, turkey, tuna), yogurts, eggs, cott cheese, Beans, fruit, cooked veg - not blended and whipped, just regular. This is for 2 months. Coming up on my 2 mo visit, when i get opened up to be able to eat raw veggies (ie, SALADS!,) and most other things. Only after 6 MONTHS can i eat grains, nuts, bread, rice, Pasta.
It all just depends on the doctor. Each ones plans are different.

I misspoke - I am on Phase 2 - basically, full liquids. The scale still hasn't moved. I see my PCP today to go on my home meds. I think I have the diet part down now and I appreciate the input. I am finding the 30 minute rest periods more important the longer I am out.

I had surgery 11/07. Came home from hospital @ stage 3. Protein Shakes, smooth liquids/soups. Struggling to get fluids in, i think i do ok, but no where near what i should be. I nap everyday. Terrible backache for 3 days. First pre-op dr. visit this morning. Looking forward to see how im doing over all. Please keep posting how you all are doing.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
