Wow you guys! The 18th and 21st of December? What a great Christmas present!!! I'd be terrified too! The time will come before you know it and you'll be on the losers bench. I of course will be your cheerleader in a very long skirt. ;) Cuz ain't nobody wanna see that! ;) Ha! *snort* But I will be secretly jealous and envious of you. :D Good times, huh?

Ok 😕 thanks for asking. These days are hard, but I’m sticking to it. 3 more pre-op days to go. Just trying to remember all the reasons I have for doing this when I’m starving!

Hang in there!! We are all rooting for you!!

So 3 more days until surgery!!! I leave Monday for Tijuana and Tuesday is surgery day!! I’m getting sooo nervous! I’m getting a slight cold I’m trying to knock out. I hope I’m not getting sick and it stands in the way of my surgery....

Thank you! I know you will, you are an awesome supporter already on this forum. I have started to settle down and just focus on one day at a time. I was so anxious to get to the 21st, that it consumed my thoughts. At this point, I just want to enjoy the journey before, during, and after my surgery.

Today is the day!!! I got into Tijuana yesterday, got my bloodwork, chest X-ray, and barium swallow done. I’m checked into the hospital, the IV is hooked up, and they just did the final EKG so I’m ready to go!! Surgery is scheduled at 9:00 AM!!!!

I’m so scared but after meeting my team of Dr.s I’m convinced I chose the right place. Dr Lopez Corvala was very kind and spent a lot of time answering my questions, the hospital is beautiful, and the staff attentive.

I’ll check back in as soon as I can and let you know how everything went.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
