Well I have my date Nov 27th!! Just need to schedule my pre-op, appointment with the nutritionist to go over the 2 week Liquid Protein diet, and than surgery day will be here in no time!!

Now here is my question....i took a week off from work because I have a job that I sit at and don't do much lifting or anything to drastic. Do you think week is fine? My surgeon said it would be but wanted to get others feedback.

Congratulations! You will do well. Yes, one week will probably be fine. I took two weeks off, but could have gone to work three or four days after. Some people do have a harder time after surgery, and require more time though. I have read about some people needing three weeks, but those were special circumstances.

Make sure that you plan ahead. Have your liquids, Snacks, meals ready so that you aren't scrambling last minute to get that stuff done.

Good luck!

I would recommend 2 weeks if you can afford. All people recover differently. On my 2nd week I was still quite low on stamina and commuting could be an issue.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
