One Month Out- Eating A LOT

Recommended Posts

I had my BAND TO SLEEVE Revision on 9/28. I have lost 32 lbs, but I have come to an abrupt STALL! Nothing in 3 weeks. I have horrible head hunger and I am able to eat more than I think I should . . . for lunch I had a tuna pouch - then and hour and a half later I had 2 small chicken fingers. I was not in horrible pain but definitely too full. Is anyone else having problems with head hunger and able to eat more than they (the Dr) said?

I definitely have to make a conscious effort. Maybe make sure you're drinking enough in between eating. This may help. But Protein is a good choice if you're eating. Is also told of you eat the protein first it'll sit heavy to block the stomach opening then add the veggies in next. Certain protein will fill me up faster.

I feel the same as u. Im about 2 mos out. Head hungers a b--ch!!! I try to eat non fatty things when that happens, like a big a pickle. It helps my crunch craving. But i feel u. My options are still limited and im sick of the like 5 items in my rotation, so my head hungwr starts kicking in something fierce. [emoji53]

I had mine on 9/25, and I stalled for about 2 weeks, but it started up again. For head hunger I try to drink something like crystal light.

I believe head hunger is a myth. Head hunger is like big foot or the Loch Ness monster. I feel real hunger and early on I was convinced my sleeve was too big. Try to do dense Proteins to fill you up. Those tuna creations and salmon creations are pretty good and not terribly expensive.

Nah, man, head hunger is all too real! Mine mostly rears its ugly head when I'm bored or real tired. Then, all I want to do is eat, even though I don't have any other symptoms of hunger, such as rumbling tummy, difficulty concentrating/focusing, shaky, or irritability. If I'm bored enough, I can even talk myself into being legitimately hungry. My team once told me people are truly hungry only 20% of the time. The other 80% is 'head hunger'. Let's be honest, we as humans really don't need all that much food to sustain, so to think were always hungry legitimately is probably us just fooling ourselves.

I am 11 weeks out. I only get head hunger late at night on when I'm bored which is the same as before surgery. They were my worst snacking/grazing/mindless eating times. Usually now I have diet Jelly or baby cucumbers and 20gms hummus. Protein will fill you quicker and we should always eat it first.

Excellent point. I do tend to want to eat out of boredom.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
