8 weeks post op thursday

Recommended Posts

i' m sure there are a lot of people here going thru the same things. I was wondering if anyone else at 7 weeks post op can pretty tolerate anything, i have ben staying on course and have lost 40 lbs give or take 2 lbs fluctuation but it seems slow in general maybe my expectations are to high for to much to fast. I go to the gym 4 times a week i walk two miles and have started working on some toning machines. i noticed my hunger is starting to come back and though i cant tolerate the amount of food i was eating i fear 5-6 ounces i can tolerate now at times sometimes 2-4 ounces will eventually grow. i stop myself and follow the program . i am getting my Protein as i should as well as Water requirements. i just don't want to have done this for nothing. I feel frustrated i am not losing more rapidly sometimes not at all. Anyone else had this problem? One thing i don't much care for are all the judgy people i have meant so far along tjis journey. its all a learning experiece.

40lbs .. 7 weeks.. Wants to lose more rapidly?

Not judging. Answer this. Have you ever lost 40lbs in 7 weeks in your life ? I think you need to tamper with your expectation gage. Its letting you down. When you lower your expectations you will see how well you have done. I also don't want others to read this post who have lost less and they start to worry.

I think we all felt like this at some point, but I'd agree that the expectation may be a little unrealistic. Not judging at all, like I said, it's a place we've all been. I'm just over a year out and 108lbs down. Which is amazing, but I don't ever lose as fast as I think I should. I probably lose about 5lbs a month now which is slow, but every inch contributes to a mile. Keep your head up. It all works out in the end if you are working toward success.

I'm a bit more than two months post-op and I've definitely had the same feeling--two stalls already in the process. I'm losing at the moment but I'm trying to take it with a grain of salt--knowing that it seems slow but really isn't. I weigh less than I have in years, maybe decades! And I have--finally--thrown away two pairs of pants that were too big. But most of my clothes still fit after 55 pounds lost--what the heck is that?

It's the reality of having a lot of stretchy plus-sized clothes, that's what it is. But eventually they'll all be gone--and that's what I'm hanging onto. The long view is important here.

I am 11 weeks out and feel the same way. I lost 56lbs but have been the same weight for weeks now. I am just going to roll with the process. My sister reminded me that I don't want to lose too much to fast because I might start looking sick. So as long as I lose 33 more ponds in the next 3 months I'll be on track.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
