I am pre-surg but still get terrible chapped lips. I think I might be addicted to the Burt's Bees chapsticks. I love the one with a blush of color in it! I think it's pomegranite or something?

I have super sensitive skin and can only use pure petroleum jelly aka Vaseline as a chapstick. Everything else has too many extra ingredients that dry out and irritate my lips. Sometimes it’s not that you’re not getting enough liquids, sometimes it’s whatever you’re using that causes you to use more.

I don't use chapstick because it actually has drying agents so I use lip gloss the gloss gives the feeling of softness it typically is not absorbed into the skin and it acts as a barrier too

If you aren’t allergic to it buy lanolin it will fix chapped lips overnight, one application. I use the kind you get in the baby aisle that is designated for breastfeeding women.

I’m having this problem too. I’m wondering if it’s related to the fact that we don’t consume as much fat in our diet since we’re not eating as much food in general now. Plus what we do eat isn’t broken down or absorbed like it used to be. What do y’all think? I wonder if there are any supplements that would help?

That's what someone else brought up to me too. I've been adding a little more Peanut Butter to my diet to see if that helps.

I'm a little over 3 months out from surgery and have extremely chapped lips. I'm getting all my Water and Vitamins in and have tried a few different types of chapstick but nothing helps. I have to keep putting it on throughout the day and night. Anyone else experience this?

Beeswax will not dry skin/lips. I cannot say for sure if pure paraffin will or not. But I can say that Veaseline or any petroleum product (like jelly) will cause some drying. Lanolin is of course good, but if you are just looking for an everyday chapstick, Beeswax is the way to go.

Yes! I'm going through chap stick like crazy. If someone would have warned me in advance I would have bought stock!

Chapstick has wax in it, which dries your lips out. Try just Vaseline. Works wonders and gives your lips a little shine.

That's what I have been using yesterday and today and I only have to put it on 3 times a day. I was using chapstick all day and night. Thanks!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
