I use an instapot but you can use a crockpot, pressure cooker or just a stock pot on the stove. I add at least 3 lbs of bones (2 chickens minus meat, 6-7 t-bones from steaks, 3 ham hocks etc). I add whatever veggies I like in Soup (onions, celery, mushrooms, cabbage, carrots) & herbs. Add enough Water to cover the bones.
For the instapot set it for soup-well done and 1 hour cook time with pressure sensor closed. For crock pot leave it on high for 6-8 hours, on the stove cook it for a few hours. The longer cook time the better. With the instapot I cook for an hour, remove veggies & herbs, add fresh and run it again 3-5 times total. When the bones crumble easily they cannot be used anymore. I add salt & pepper to taste, strain it and put it in the fridge. After it cools it’ll have a layer of fat, remove that and you’re good to go. I freeze mine in 16 oz cups from Amazon. I have beef, chicken & pork as well as a bunch I’ve turned into Soups and Beans. [emoji177]

I know Jack **** about Bone Broth but see it on here all the time.

How does like lipton Soup broth (without the noodles obviously) compare to home broth? Or is that not even remotely close go the same thing

Or you can go to Walmart and buy Sam's Choice organic Bone Broth. The difference in broth and bone broth is Protein levels, more in bone broth 7gr per cup.

If I make homemade I roast the bones in the oven as if I was making pot roast, it has more flavor - I add browned mushrooms, onion, green pepper, celery, and lots of garlic. When the bones are browned I add more cold Water. You could also add store bone broth to this.

I am making beef Bone Broth tomorrow and definitely plan to roast the bones first. When I make it from chicken I use 2 roasted chickens after we eat the meat off of them. The beef bones I’m using are from the grocery store, they are the bones from T-bone steaks and still have a little meat on them. If I have time I’m also going to use the bones from the small turkey I just made. [emoji177]

I bought two rotisserie chickens, removed the skin and picked the dark meat off (baggied it for the freezer). So the carcasses, white meat, 3 celery stalks, 2 yellow onions and 2 carrots went into the instapot and filled with spring Water, pressed the Soup setting and 40 minutes later, Voila. I strained it into a large pot and tossed the ingredients back into the pot, filled it up with water and ran it one more time. Strained it one last time into the large pot and seasoned both batches together. I got several Bell jars out of it and it was a thick yummy glutinous broth. Good to freeze in ice cube trays or popsicles molds, pop em into baggies and keep for later use. I’ve drank all mine up! So good and healthy [emoji317]

[emoji177] Sounds wonderful! [emoji177] My chicken Bone Broth have had very little meat in them but the beef broth I am making now has a lot more. I am making one batch of bone broth and the second batch will be beefy cabbage soup, I will cycle each batch through twice before starting the next batch. The recipe I use for cabbage soup says 1 cup is 100% of your daily Fiber requirements, I’m going to ask my surgeon if I can eat that during the broth stage (yogurt is allowed so I thought over cooked cabbage might be ok). I am really worried about the Constipation, my plumbing has slowed down quite a bit on the mostly Protein diet. ☹️

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
