OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Oct 11, which is a month today! I am eating fine, I’ve only eaten too much twice, but it sure isn’t pleasant! I am taking in around 1100 cals a day and 100 grams Protein. I know that’s a lot but it’s working for me. I can workout as well as before surgery, but weak. I’m having problems wanting to eat at night, but I stay within my calorie range.

I was sleeved 10/27/17 I had my first post op appointment today. Thankfully everything is going well, I'm still on liquids till Saturday (so excited lol) and I had some gas pain which was my main issue post op and now it has traveled to my right shoulder the doctor said it will pass and is normal. I'm down 22lbs this far and walking 30mins daily. All is well! Hope everyone's journey goes well too!

How are you getting your protein in?

Does anyone else have 4 weeks of liquid diet after surgery? I just finished week 2 of 4 and I'm dying here.

I just had surgery on 10/23 and I feel like I am hungry all the time. Thankfully I can’t eat much. I have also stalled. With 21lbs down with pre-op liquid diet. Trying not to get discouraged.

Was sleeved 10/30 and started the Soft and Moist foods this week and so much happier. I'm done with Jello, Kool aid, popsicle and on to food. Went through our Kaiser handouts and The Idiots Guide, Everything your need to know about WLS, Bariatrtic Cookbook and one other and wrote down ALL of the ingredients needed for this stage. Sent my husband out to get everything and now have a good idea of what I want to eat for the three meals a day. I'm on this stage for four weeks, and needed something other than eggs. I had banana/yogurt smoothie today and it was OH.MY.GOD.GOOD. I don't think I couldl've been on the liquid diet longer than the week I was on it.

How are you getting your Protein in?

I eat two egg whites, fried in Pam, with no fat cheese at Breakfast. I always eat 3oz of whatever meat at the other two meals rounded out with 1-2 oz of (green Beans, roasted squash). IMG_3041.JPGI have three Snacks each day out of: triple zero yogurt, two lifts cheese sticks or a shake made of 4 strawberries, 1/2 cup blueberries, 6 oz Water and a scoop of Protein Powder. I’m at ~ 1,000 cals a day, but I workout quite a bit.

I was sleeved on October 26th. I was amazed at how quickly I recovered. I have had so many surgeries and have never recovered so quickly. I have lost about 26 pounds as of my 2 week appointment. I don't weigh myself because I'm afraid honestly of what the scale says. I can barely get food in I take 2 or 3 bits and instantly get nauseous and pain but I try. I'm afraid I'm not losing weight but when I look in the mirror I can see progress. I go through bouts of a little depression because I'm afraid I will just start gaining weight again......but I am determined to make this work. Its nice already having my clothes fall off.

I was sleeved on 10/30 and I am so ready to be done with the blended diet. I go on 11/30 for the next phase! I eat scrambled eggs with a little pepper jack cheese; Oikos Zero yogurt; Premier Protein chocolate, and drink about 56 ounces of Water. I tried crystal light, but it actually made me crave sweets. I have been losing weight steadily, but actually had a stall the last few days!

I was sleeved on 10/31/17 - So far so good, though I struggle to get in the required Protein. I know I need to plan my meals in advance, just need to sit down and actually do it!

I am doing 30 minutes or 2 miles on the elliptical machine, whichever comes first. I love it since it's a total body workout and so far I've had great results come out of it. Or days when I'm not really feelin' it or I have some slight pain on my right side, I just walk for 30 minutes on the treadmill.

I was sleeved on the same day!! Your progress is amazing!! When do you start on soft foods?

Just checking in to give an update on myself and see how the rest of the October sleevers are doing. I’m a little over 7 weeks post op right now and feeling amazing. I’ve been going to the gym on a regular basis and feel like I have much more energy for it now than I did before surgery. food wise I feel I’ve been very lucky in that I really haven’t had any trouble with anything I’ve tried post op. I started this journey back at the beginning of June at a weight of 333lbs. The day of surgery I was 299lbs. My current weight is 252lbs which I am very happy with. I set a goal for myself after surgery to be below 250lbs by the end of the year and barring any crazy stalls I should be able to hit that mark with the few weeks I have left to reach it. Then after that it’s time to push on to my goal weight of 230lbs. All in all I’m 100% happy with my decision to make this life change. Yes there were days of doubt and times in the few weeks post op where I questioned what I had done, but I know in the long run I made the right decision and become more sure of that every day. Now if I could just hit the lotto so I could afford the whole new wardrobe I need I’d be all set lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
