It's probably a normal part if the healing process, but it's always good to keep an eye out for signs of a problem.

Get a good thermometer and keep tabs on your temperature. The first week, low fevers (up to 100F) are common and normal. If you get a higher one, call your Doc. 102, call your doc and go to the ER.

Usually fevers (if you are going to have one) happen in the evening, so take several readings throughout the day.

I too was also sleeved on Halloween and have been getting sweats every now and then and would love to know what is causing them. I also would love to know how some people survived the post op liquid stages of the diet. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. I have always been one that loves to eat good food and sweets and it's a very hard battle staying away from all of the stuff I liked to eat.

Have you both tried checking your temperature? I we sent home with the breathing machine and a thermometer to check my temperature twice a day for the first 2 weeks to ensure that I didn’t get a fever or infection.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
