pbing or puking happening daily

Recommended Posts

Let me ask - if you, every day, cannot get food down -- why do you not believe you are too tight? In other words, what's happning that makes you think your level of restriction is either good, or low? For example, can you clearly relate it back to poor behaviors on your behalf?

Ya its poor behavior , sometimes the pieces that come back up are quite big!!

The reason I dot not believe I am too tight is

I'm gaining weight and I am hungry alot more.

Sounds like you need to get back to the basics. If you know you are not chewing well, chew better. Count 30 chews if you have to. If the bites are too big, stop doing that. If the food choices are not great, stop doing that too.

From what you are saying these are issues within your control.

Lila- I Too Pb Daily. There's Times I Throw Up And It's Like The Kind Of Throwing Up You Would Do If You Had The Flu. I Hate It! I Think I'm To Tight. I Got My First Fill Of 2.5cc And Wasn't Loosing Any Wt And Was Still Feeling Restricted All Day Until Supper. Then It Seemed Like Everything Opened Up And I Could Eat A 6in Sub With No Restriction. After 3 Months I Decided To Get My Second Fill Of 0.8cc To See If That Would Help Me Start To Loose Wt. It's Been 1 Month Now Since That Second Fill And I'm Still Trying To Get pureed Foods Down. I Have A Serious Hard Time Drinking Fluid Or Attempting To Eat Mush Until Late In The Afternoon. And I Can Only Eat 1-2 Bites At A Time And Sometimes That Doesn't Seem To Stay Down. I Think I Need To Get Some Fluid Removed But I'm Now Looseing Wt Like 3-6lbs A Wk And I Have To Pay Privately Every Time I Get Something Done So That's What's Keeping Me From Having Some Removed. I Just Pray My Band Doesn't Slip!! I Plan To Have Some Removed But Not For Awhile Until I Get Down At Least Anither 30 Lbs. I'm Just Affraid That If I Get Some Taken Back Out I Won't Be Able To Loose Any Wt Again?!?

You are risking complications such as a slip or erosion keeping your band too tight.

If you are having trouble and throwing up regularly, stay on liquids. Do not try to drink anything for a few hours after you have thrown up so everything can rest inside. You are supposed to go on liquids for 24 hours if you throw up.

If you can't afford an unfill, make sure you are doing everything you can to not throw up, because you will either end up losing your band later on down the road, or having another surgery to fix a slip.

You should go to the doctor and not feel ashamed. You didn't have the band put in to feel like this.

Do you go on liquids after you throw up. Try going on liquid Protein shakes for a week and let everything settle down in there. You should not only lose weight, but you need to give everything a rest if you have been throwing up regularly. Otherwise, go to the dr. and tell him you must be too tight because you are throwing up a lot. You don't want to cause erosion which comes from too tight of a band for too long.

i think if you try eating solids too soon after a fill that you will cause irritation and then swelling . then you will puke. so i decided that im going to stay on liquids the whole week after my fill. my doctor says to do liquids for a week after the fill and i know from experience...(the hard way) that he is right. . if you get a fill and dont heal well , you will think you are too tight when you may just have swelling......... it is a matter of discipline , experience and education........ if i puke , i have to heal up after. i think what everyone is telling you is true........ liquids to heal and rest........

lila/Amanda, are you fills done under fluoro? I think perhaps, could you schedule a fluoro so that your docs could do a swallow, to see what position the band is in? It is better to do this earlier, than later. I know the maintenance can be a pain, but it does lead to a little better piece of mind, that, if its ok-great, if not, get a plan to fix it. Good luck!

For PBing problems ask yourself sveral questions.

1-are you eating too much or did you eat too much before the PB?

2-are you doing the small bites and chew enough until the food is amost a mush in your mouth.

3- are you eating when you are not belly hungry (there's a difference between 'belly hunger' and 'head hunger'.

4-Is there certain foods that you seem to always PB, burp or gurgle on? The band has a mind of her own and just does not like certain foods.

I was having a lot of PBing until I started asking the above questions every time I ate something solid. Now I have no PB's.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
