11 months out

Recommended Posts

Hi! I had my surgery in December 2016, starting at 215, but I’ve only dropped to 170. While I’m THRILLED with the results, I feel as though I should be at goal now. But, I’ve only started exercising the past month.

Honestly, I “relapsed” on bad habits and I cannot for the life of get back on track. I almost feel complacent since I still look and feel so much better. Would like to drop 20 more.

Any advice for me to get back on gear with eating? I think part of my problem has not been getting NEARLY the Protein I should (just the past month). Still, this surgery was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Thanks!

I've not experienced this, but I've seen many vlogs on this subject on Youtube. Try the preop liquid diet for 2weeks to reset your cravings & tastebuds. This should also jump start your weight lost again. Here is my preop: 4 PREMIER protien shakes a day & 1 meal (meats & veggies only) max daily intake 1100 calories🙄 Also be sure to keep your bowels moving Constipation interferes with weight loss & DRINK PLENTY OF Water & TAKE YOUR VITAMINS

1100 is quite a lot for a female in the weightloss phase I personally think. But clearly its working for you as you've lost a lot! Amazing

You've done tremendously.

I only eat meat veg and cheese eggs. Protein Shake for Breakfast keeps me satsatisfied and I get no cravings now. This is just what I feel like eating. Stalls are normal but not had one in awhile.

Thnx, the above was my preop diet per my surgeon, doing the preop for 2 weeks has shown effective for breaking a long stall & dealing w/ cravings. I haven't experienced a long stall, but suggested it after reading the original post.

I have noticed I tend to graze all day which leads to higher calorie intake and a stall. If I go back to purposeful eating - three meals and 2-3 Snacks I have been successful in getting back on track. Let my tool do what's it's designed to! :)

Yes. I was told at my support group last night that lots of water helps to flush the fat out of our system as we lose weight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
