Just Curious .. can you handle bread, rice, pasta?

Recommended Posts

I can eat rice but feel extremely ful ( uncomfortable really) in the past year I only had a slice of bread maybe 2 or 3 times I don't crave it or need it so I don't buy it that's the easiest, just don't buy it lol and Pasta is on occasion but I just stay with eatting Protein first and there's no room for any thing else. After an hr then i can get veggies in. Just follow the plan yup sounds boring right but the outcome looks good [emoji3].... love sea food pre-measure and weight...put in snack baggie they are great and ill grab one when I think I'm hungry..its a great treat lots of protein too!!!

I am 3 years out, and can tolerate all of these. I have slowly started regain. I have cut them back out (we all know they should not be restarted!) and have started back to the basics!

My little bit of advice would be not to even start what you have been told not to do! Not even a little bit! It is how we all got in trouble to begin with!

I eat brown rice, Protein Pasta and low glycemic breads (sourdough, pump, whole wheat) pretty regularly.

I don't eat white rice. Brown rice only in small quantities. Never more than a quarter cup.

Protein pasta is wonderful, but I eat about a half a cup and have to call it quits.

bread, I eat half a slice at a time. No white bread, italian, french, etc.

What is protein pasta? I'm very intrigued.

I eat brown rice occasionally. I also eat a half of 100% whole wheat English muffin or bagel as a Breakfast choice once per week. I will tell you that the mornings where I do eat this for breakfast, I feel full all morning and into the afternoon. I think its because its so Fiber rich, I'm not sure. I haven't tried Pasta, but I usually eat "zoodles", zucchini noodles, instead.

Also, do any of you watch Shark Tank? They had an episode where they premiered their "Palmini" Pasta. It looks like real pasta noodles, but it is made from hearts of palm. I looked it up on Amazon and it has great reviews. I'm interested in ordering a case.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
