Donia 21 Posted November 3, 2017 Hi Danna,My name is Donia and I am 46. I just found this group yesterday! I’m about 2-3 months out from having gastric sleeve surgery. I’m in the phase of meeting with my dietician, exercise specialist, and others who will help me be successful in this journey. Where are you in the process? Danna Marie 2 Posted November 3, 2017 Hi Donia! I just started my journey and had my very first meeting on Oct. 30th. I’m about 8 months out from having my surgery. My insurance requires a 9 month waiting period in which I have to see all the different specialist to make sure I am healthy enough for the surgery. Are you excited or worried about your surgery? What’s been the hardest part of your journey so far.
Donia 21 Posted November 3, 2017 I’m excited! I think the hardest part for me so far has been mental. I keep thinking of all the foods I’ll be giving up and it’s hard because I love food! But the other day I had an epiphany and started making a “can’t do” list to compare to my “can’t eat” list, and the “can’t do” list is so much longer! I have severe arthritis in one knee and advanced arthritis in the other, which limits me greatly. So I’m ready to lengthen the “can’t eat” list in order to shorten the “can’t do” one! Danna Marie 2 Posted November 3, 2017 I think that’s where I am at the moment. I keep looking and thinking OMG I’m never gonna eat that again. But like you I have a lot of medical issues that are keeping me from doing all the things I love. I use to love to go to amusement parks but now I just don’t fit. So I know it’s time to do something.
