Every body is so very different just stick to what the doctor is telling you, and I am sure this will pass. I know how frustrating it can be in the mean time but our bodies take time to adjust or have a period if your a woman or maybe they just want to swell for a few days whatever it is I have faith it will pass.

Mine lasts about a week and then it passes. It's like the previous person said, it's just your body adjusting to the changes.

I just hit my four weeks post op today. I am down 20 lbs from surgery date, 30 total. Mine seemed to stall last week as well, but this week seems to be picking back up and since I am now in the Chew Stage of food, it might pick up even more, hopefully. I am taking all of my Vitamins and Calcium, as well as extra B12 but I just feel so tired. Not sleepy, just tired and I am not used to that at all, I hope this too shall pass. Now the fun part of trying new foods I suppose...

Wow down 20 pounds post surg. is incredible! Congratulations!!! I’m down 6 post surg but that’s ok :) it’ll come off. I’m glad to know I’m not tye not one stalling!

I’ve heard that when real foods are introduced we do better energy-wise. Hopefully that will help you (& me soon too, I’m exhausted!!)

I'm 7 weeks out today. Before surgery I heard about the inevitable 3-4 week stall. And I had it. In the 5th and 6th weeks alone it caught up and I lost 17 lbs in those 2 weeks. I was a bit frustrated but try to keep in mind that many people hit that stall and it's just your body trying to figure things out. Keep following the rules and your body will fall in line.

Wow that’s great info to have in my back pocket! Thank you. Yes the 3-4 wk stall is for real I’m finding out too, but I didn’t know about it before surgery. Glad to know it can happen again soon. Wow your 17 lb wt loss in 2 wks is incredible!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
